Fabulous hotel in a great location with exceptional staff. We had a great time staying here. Although our room was small it was very comfortable and the views were amazing. Great breakfast as well. Will stay again next time in Florence. And a special shout out to their luxurious towels.

What a great birthday weekend. Lovely location, beautiful room, exceptional service, attention to detail, warmth, discretion. We were traveling with our dog and they prepared a lovely little bed for him and even left a little toy as a gift for him. Breakfast was great, tasteful decor, great pastry. If we could give 6 stars we would.

Fantastic location and great experience. We travel with a small dog—and we felt truly welcomed. Our junior suite had a wonderful “room with a view” window and access to a small balcony with river views. The breakfast buffet was excellent and the service staff friendly and kind. Our bath had a wonderful tub and modern fixtures. For people with mobility issues, make sure to request a room with a shower as getting in and out of the tub can be treacherous. The quality of the linens was great, though for people not used to sleeping on a mattress with springs the two joined twin mattresses may be less than ideal. Water bottles as well as internet were complimentary. Upon arrival we found in the bedroom a dog bed, bowls, and blanket. Our room was serviced promptly upon request. We missed turned down service most nights presumably because our dog barked at the door!

Oor experience staying at the Hotel Balestri was wonderful, ideally located by the River Arno with views of the Ponte Vecchio. Front of House staff were extremely helpful in recommending and making restaurant reservation for a special meal. The room, with a large queen size bed, was spotlessly clean, shower pressure was great with immediate hot water. The dining area has a classic decor and a substantial choice of buffet breakfast was available which was a great experience to start the day. Lucia, Marianne and Elisa gave exceptional service at breakfast during our stay. We would definitely stay there again if the opportunity arose to visit Florence again.

Everything about our experience at the Hotel Balestri was wonderful. The room was large, nicely (but not overly) furnished, a good and comfortable (firm but not too firm) Italian bed, a spacious walk-in closet and a great bathroom. The room was immaculately cleaned everyday and the housekeeping and bell staff were attentive to our needs. Breakfast everyday was excellent and the wait staff were super; totally about helping us and happy to indulge us in our expanding Italian vocabulary. The location is nice in that it is quiet and beautiful, overlooking the Arno and a bit out of the crowds of the center of Florence. As I have said so far, the staff were just great. I want to particularly highlight the front desk. For us, Laura, Vania, Gabriele and Vanni were incredibly helpful. Vanni in particular was a miracle worker solving several urgent and difficult problems that we came up against as we planned our itinerary and also helping us with issues related to our luggage and its delivery even before we arrived. This is truly a great hotel and we look forward to our next visit!!

We wanted a room with an Arno view. We got a lovely room with a small balcony opening to the Arno with a table and two chairs. (408). There were 4 of these rooms on the 4th floor. Also a few looking on to the square which have a partial river view. Large comfortable bed and pillows. We could see two bridges including the ponte Vecchio. Our view included the Piazzale Michelangelo and San Miniato. The location was perfect. A short walk to all major sites. It's an old city so you need decent comfy shoes. The central market and rail station were the furthest walks in the city. the Piazzale M. is over the river and up a hill. All staff were pleasant and efficient. On arrival we were shown to our room and received a bar voucher for cocktails. It's a ground floor bar. Breakfasts were included and there was a large selection. Hot food was bacon & eggs and there was a menu of options if desired. The terrace on the roof sits between two rooms. It has a good view into the old town including the Duomo. We flew to the Florence airport which is a short taxi ride from the hotel. On departure we walked to the tram which was beside the main rail station.

Loved it. We had a direct river view and a comfortable king bed (actually 2 beds pushed together but nicely). Our shower room (as requested) was larger than some hotel bedrooms we’ve stayed in and with strong water pressure (shower leaked a bit). Room cleaned daily. No turndown service but who really needs it? Buffet breakfast (7-10.30am) offered good choice and good quality. The spacious breakfast room was pleasant, with coffee/tea served to your table. We had emailed several requests (one was rather complicated) prior to arrival, all were dealt with promptly and intelligently - more so than by our equivalent Rome hotel. WiFi adequate. We had looked at similar quality hotels with river view nearer Ponte Vecchio: at higher prices yet about the same distance from the Uffizi. We found this place to be a 4* hotel that’s better than it needs to be; we would happily return here.

This Hotel sells itself as a high class hotel yet, one man on the reception was arrogant, rude and totally unhelpful Yes, the hotel is in a great location, well appointed and clean and expensive but to employ staff who treat others badly is not acceptable.

The hotel is situated in a great place in the centre of Florence by the river, close to many museums. Made welcome at the hotel despite arriving early. We were allowed to store our luggage as our room wasn't ready. We were shown to our room following lunch out. Room was adequate but small with very little storage space for luggage. The room was over the kitchens, where we were woken by the rubbish carts collecting the rubbish vety early in the morning. It was also very hot as the air conditioning was not going to be switched on until May. Therefore, we had to open the windows and we got bitten by mosies during the night! The bathroom was great with a walk-in rain shower and hand shower, both of which was very powerful. Toiletries were available & really nice. Breakfast was served from 7 to 10 am, which suited most people. The food was plentiful, and a good choice was available. The reception staff were very helpful, directing you to places of interest, good restaurants and ordering taxis as needed.

We stayed at this hotel with our two teenage daughters and booked a family room. It was perfect, we each had our own room off of a private corridor and the views were stunning. Every detail had been thought of and the breakfast was amazing. The location is perfect, within easy walking distance of everything. We asked the hotel for restaurant recommendations and we booked two of them. Both were delicious meals and lovely restaurants. We would not hesitate to recommend this hotel.
