We were slightly apprehensive about our first family holiday abroad with our 16 month old, having been abroad previously but stayed with friends. No need, there was everything we could imagine supplied, and even more. A back carrier to cart the little one on the stunning walks we did - a buggy (although we had brought our own for ease),... We stayed at Alsagra for two weeks in August 2012 and had a fantastic time. The location is just superb with gorgeous view across the Umbrian countryside. The apartments are well equipped and each has a private terrace. The pool is wonderful, v clean and warm, again with amazing views. As well as the pool there is plenty to keep... More

If you long for a bit of the culture, food and sightseeing you used to enjoy before children but equally know that in order for you to relax they need to be happy and entertained too then this is the perfect holiday. The hosts Helen and Steve are passionate about what they do and work very hard to make sure... More

I would agree with all the reviewers that the accommodations, the views and the location are outstanding. I have waited a long time to send in a review because generally our visit was positive. That said, after re-checking some of the most recent reviews, my conclusion is that the owners, who are British, are less than enthusiastic when it comes... More

We had a brilliant week - the apartment was really well-equipped and we enjoyed the pool mostly as there was a heat wave! The hosts Steve and Helen were really welcoming and hosted a fantastic pizza making evening and bbq night which were all great family affairs, with the children amusing themselves in the playground! Setting is so peaceful and... More

A fantastic holiday for our little family. Exceptionally spacious, clean and very well equipped accommodation. Welcoming hosts who responded very quickly to any questions we had. Lots of toys in accommodation and play areas on site. Enough to do in the local area to keep us occupied. Oh, and the view is amazing!

We had a fantastic stay at Alsagra. The apartment had breathtaking views over the Umbrian countryside, and it was fully equipped for our 2yr old daughter. Lots of toys, books, games and DVDs plus fantastic outdoor play areas. Helen and Stephen and their lovely 2 children make a real effort to make your stay as pleasant and as stress free... More

We arrived at Alsagra and was welcomed warmly by Helen, her family and 3 beautiful goats. As soon as we got into the apartment the kids saw all the toys, books and games and we had lost them immediately. A great idea so that we could unpack in peace whilst they were fully entertained. After a quick tea they dashed... More

We have stayed at Alsagra for the past 2 years and had a great time. This year we booked the Papaveri apartment. Some of the previous reviews had said the kitchen was not very good so we were a bit nervous but since we had planned simple food we were not too worried. The communication with everything prior to our... More

Unfortunately we could not go in the summer holidays so opted for April. The weather was tee shirt weather but not warm enough for the pool. Everything else made up for it. Both children loved the goats and soon made friends with Poppy and Michele, the owners two children. There were two play areas and most of the time my... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
You can have the best of both worlds at Alsagra. Mums and dads can take a deep breath of warm, olive grove-scented air and relax with a glass of local wine as the sun sets with a golden glow over the stunning hill villages of Tuscany. Meanwhile, even young kids can do their own thing, distracted by two fully-equipped play areas and oodles of toys, while being kept safe by child-proof door gates in each apartment and fences around the stunning solar-heated pool.Owners Stephen and Helen live close by with their own two small people, so they know exactly what parents with children in tow need to kick back and enjoy a holiday. It shows in the way in which they have lovingly restored their fabulous traditional Umbrian stone farmhouse, set in two acres of terraced olive groves, gardens and Chestnut and Oak woodlands, with family needs firmly in mind. The house itself sits on hill on the border between Tuscany and Umbria, overlooking the pretty village of San Giovanni Del Pantano and with incredible views towards Assisi, Magione and Perugia. It is divided into three independent self-catering apartments, each with high-beamed wooden ceilings, terracotta tiled flooring and windows staring dreamily out over the valley below. Each apartment has a living area with a comfortable sofa and lounging chairs, a CD/radio system, free WiFi, and central heating for out-of-season visitors. Kitchens have all mod-cons; fridge freezer, microwave, kettle, toaster, hob and oven with grill but a warm traditional colour palette and hand-made wooden surfaces give the whole place a wonderful warm Italian rustic feel. No need to worry about privacy either. Once you've had enough socialising with your chilled-out fellow trippers around the pool, you can retire to your secluded private patio, complete with BBQ, chairs and loungers. ... more   less
