Nice room, dinky bathroom, but it's a city centre, so to be expected. A bit warm - I assumed it was aircon as there were vents, couldn't find a thermostat and then in the morning when I opened the curtains, there was the radiator! Ooops! You have to pay for wi-fi at 20CHF per day - some places are beginning... More

I found the Metropolitan to be a comfortable hotel, notwithstanding the fact that the rooms were quite small and tight. It is well located being close to the central train station although it is a bit of a walk to the main area of the city. Staff are very friendly and helpful there.

I had a very pleasant stay in Metropol Bael: a big sport-elegant stile quiet and cleen room, with a very good aircondition for hot days and a helpfull staff. breakfast was good, with a nice view of the city from the top floor. The hotel is only a 1 minute walk to the trams stations and the main centeral train station of... More

I stayed at Metropol Hotel last week and by far, this was the worst hotel experience I ever had. In terms of: 1) Location - Not bad. Near train station. No complaint. 2) Room - Bad experience. Room size was small for a 4 star (is this hotel really a 4 star hotel? I wonder.). Room was stuffy and bit... More

If you have to stay near train station, Metropol Hotel is a very good choice. Guests receive a mobility ticket, granting free access to all types of public transport. Breakfast was good and coffee excellent (splendid city view from 8th floor). Room was big enough, very clean and quiet.Staff was very helpful and always welcoming and this is important for... More

If you have to stay near the train station then I suppose this is an okay place, but just okay. This was our 3rd stop of 5 in Europe and the most disappointing hotel of all. We were only there for one night for a quick afternoon business meeting. We arrived rather late at night, but even so, I really... More

I have stayed here a couple of times during March 2009. Whist the hotel has no frills, it is comfortable and considerably quieter than many of the other hotels I have stayed in in this part of Basel. There is no restaurant or bar in the hotel, but there are some good bars and restaurants within just a few minutes... More

Hi, my girlfriend and I stayed in this hotel in October after reading the reviews on Tripadvisor, there is nothing wrong with it but how is it a 4* Hotel? The rooms are small but ok, the staff are friendly enough but not exceptional as others seem to think, but the main thing is there is no bar or restaurant.... More

We have just returned from our first trip to Basel and stayed in this hotel. Great location bus from the airport stops outside and it is across the road from the main train station. The tram stop is also outside and only two stops from the central area of Basel. Hotel is very comfortable, hairdryer, mini bar. Staff very helpful... More
