The hotel staff are very nice. The hotel is getting pretty worn, but the bed was clean and comfortable. The rooms are over-priced by 50% for what they offer--440chf for a junior suite that was an attic room, no AC, and carry your luggage up the stairs. Great location! Pleasant Employees! Minor Quirks. Pleasant older gentleman working the front reception. Very nice employee's. Hotel room was good except the bed was split down the middle, must of been a double stuck together. The bedding was very comfortable. The hotel key was too large.

Hotel Belle Epoque is the only small, centrally located hotel in Bern. The hotel is aging gracefully but could use some refurbishments-- new carpets, air conditioning, and new linens. In addition the front desk service was quite lax. Our room was not cleaned after our first day. The location could not be better.

Expensive for what you get. Rooms and corridors are cramped, difficult to find anyone at the front desk when you need them, breakfast not included in the high room rate. Location on Bern's main street is good, but our room faced the street and we were awakened several times each night by noisy carousers in the street below.

Although the hotel is well located in the old part of Bern, there is no air conditioning so the room was very hot.
