What a great location. Spent 4 nights at the Poet when traveling and I could not have asked for any more. This quaint hotel had a charm all to itself. It was situated in a perfect location right near shops, bars, clubs and restaurants. I was in a single room which was small but big enough for one, room was... More

After many years of wanting to explore Amsterdam by partner treated to me to a long weekend stay in the city. After hours of research he came across the Poet Hotel. The interior was artistic with a heritage warm feel. The rooms although small would be perfectly described as cosy. The bathroom was clean and spacious with a refreshing shower.... More

Couldn't have asked for a better location. So central, a block away from Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh museum, and the main shopping street. It's not the Ritz, but you're not going to be in the room much anyway, while in Amsterdam, are you?

Check the website of this place and you'd think you were booking into a funky boutique hotel with bohemian literary references. What you get is a scruffy bed and breakfast with threadbare carpets, near vertical stairs and tiny rooms. The first room I was given was in the basement and parts of the wall were rotten with damp. It should... More

My travel agent told me the name of the hotel was "Acro Amsterdam" but thanks to Tripadvisor reviews I found out the correct name. Before arrival I confirmed this with the hotel and they told me it had been refurbished about a year ago and renamed "Poet". On arrival we thought we must have come to the wrong hotel as... More

The location is great, it cannot be better. From my roof window of the room 497 I could see the roof of Van Gohg museum and Stedelijk. Paradiso the famous concert and art venue is just a 2 minutes walk. Max Euwe Square with a giant cement chess table with giant pieces is free for casual games for everyone, under... More

I went for a crazy weekend with my mate we wanted somewhere cheap and clean. The hotel is good value for money, it was in a lovely quiet street and close to restaurants bars etc. The room was basic and about the size of a large shoe box however the bed was extremely comfy, the shower was great and the... Great location, around the corner from museums, tram stop, restaurants and the airport bus. Staff friendly and helpful, twin room very small but perfectly adequate, although rather hot at night. The bathroom had no plug and no shelf for toiletries, not even a cup for toothbrushes. Towel had a hole in it and duvet cover which acquired a stain due... More

My friend and I stayed overnight at the Poet. The room was clean, and nicely decorated. There is a small lift, but it is a lift. Wi-Fi is available at a cost. The location is a short walk to the museum quarter and Vondel Park. I posted a review on Aadlers Hotel, which is located just across the street. The... More

For a 2-night city break, both the location and the price of the Poet were perfect. Whilst there may be issues for people who have particular accessibility needs, once you are in the hotel there is a lift to all floors, so you don't need to attempt the steep spiral staircases (unless you're brave!) The room itself was small (but... More
