Nice staff and a lovely old building made it an ideal place to stay. Very convenient for the historic centre of Tournai but tucked away in a quiet part of town. Lots of quirky touches like the bedrooms named after famous painters and interesting objets dotted about. Spotlessly clean and lovely fresh bread, pastries and fruit for breakfast.

We stayed just one night in a triple room ( double room type 2 with an extra-bed).The room was very clean,spacious,comfortable and quiet.The only downside was the shower which change the hot water in cold water every second! I have stayed in the Alcantara many times on business. The rooms are simple but clean, good sized with good bathrooms. The staff are all very friendly, speak numerous languages and always helpful. The breakfast is excellent, fresh fruit salad, fresh orange juice, fresh bread rolls and pastries, much better than in many chain hotels. Highly recommended.

A truly lovely hotel. The building itself is delightful, the double room that we had was spacious with a fine view into the courtyard. Breakfasts were good, staff were extremely helpful and spoke excellent English in addition to French and, from what we heard, other languages too. Price was good.
