Three of us stayed with Annette and Christian during September 2012. The B&B was wonderful with friendly hosts and beautiful breakfast. The B&B is full of charm and character, clean and rooms were spacious. We did the WW1 tour with them and to say it was one of the highlights of our trip is an understatement. Annette was our tour... I am just back from a 2 day trip with my father to WW1 battlefields with Christian and Annette. Arrangements went perfectly from meeting Christian at Lille station straight on to a fascinating tour of Vimy Ridge and the Somme. Excellent lunch included at French restaurant, part of Lorette cemetry. Christian dropped us in Ypres for Menin Gate ceremony and... More

Stayed here on the spur of the moment trip, both Christian and Annette were very knowledgeable about the area and pointing us in the right direction everyday for things to do and see, the rooms are spacious and comfortable, the breakfast is 1st class, its like a home from home. This is just 10 minutes drive outside Ypres center and... More

I have only just gotten to writting this review although our stay was back in the third week of August 2012. Both Christian and Annette are the most welcoming of hosts and certainly the most knowledgable guides one could have. They took us on our tour of the significant Australian WW1 battlefields and provided what I thought was an insightful... More

We have just returned from Ypres where we stayed with Christian and Annette at Camalou for two nights. The room was spotless and very homely with on suite shower room and toilet. There were also tea and coffee making faciities just outside our room available to everyone. We had an excellent freshly cooked breakfast of egg and bacon and there... More

Christian and Annette Linthout have a lovely home in Dikkebus and are a wonderfully hospitable couple. We have stayed with Christian and Annette for four years now and would never dream of staying anywhere else. The sensitivity with which they help people explore their families war time history is special. They are both so knowledgeable. There are pictures and books... More

We couldn't speak more highly of our experience at Camalou. Camalou was very comfortable and the breakfast delicious. Our hosts, Christian and Annette, bent over backwards to ensure that our stay was enjoyable including accommodating the extras required by our 3YO daughter. (This included providing a baby seat in the car and toys at the B&B) However, the highlight of... More

My partner and I stayed at Camalou only for one night on a battlefield tour. Although only a short time the experience was fantastic and the accommodation was excellent. Annette and Christian were brilliant, their enthusiasm and knowledge of the battlefields, their friendly nature and attitude throughout the tour was second to none. They are very knowledgable and take the... More

We found Camalou thru a search of B&Bs in Ypres.......so glad we chose this one. Website details dont do it justice. Easy to find, quiet location excellent room, great breakfast.....oh and the tours....now these two know their stuff and convey the atmosphere of the conflict superbly. As we visited the museum at Tyne Cot, I noticed a medal similar to... More

We came on our son's recommendation and didn't regret one minute. The accommodation was first class and the like- minded company were very entertaining. Annette and Christian were perfect hosts. Our stay was brief but Annette has so much knowledge we came away far more aware of the history of the War and the horrors of it. She gave us... More
