If you're looking for wifi, updated rooms, and the latest in creature comforts, this isn't your place. But if you're looking for a dated but beautiful stay in a creaky and comfortable old building that feels a bit like home, look no further. The rooms are a bit sparse, the beds comfortable but no-frills. Everything works (with the exception of... More

Tricky to find the first time and to locate parking, the Monfalim is otherwise well placed for exploring little Evora. It is only a few short blocks from the main shopping street and center of town, yet quiet. Had the weather been better, we may have enjoyed the terrace - but it is a smoking area. The 30 steps up... I booked through booking.com. The hotel info did not indicate that pre-payment is required anywhere in the booking. The hotel charged the total amount upon booking. I only learned when I checked my credit card balance. I have booked hotels at several cities for my trip and this is the only one that did this. When I was there, I... More

A good location but the interior, whilst having some wonderful old pieces inside is gloomy and the rooms need a bit of attention. The bathrooms were a bit mouldy but I suppose it is very old and it must take a lot of money to preserver the fabric of the property. A good location but staff are a bit slack.We... More

This hotel is in a great locationn in the city of Evora and the price is worth it. It's a but worn, but when your old your old. Don't expect a Holiday Inn,as it is not. It is old and comfortable with a family atmosphere. This is a family run operation and its like stepping into a big old Convent!... More

A lovely old building near all the main sights but it is a bit run down, though clean and with pleasant staff. Our room was definitely on the cold side, though the heating did come on in the evening: probably a much better bet in the summer when you'd be able to use the wide terrace at the front. Breakfast... We visited in Winter, and while very traditional the high ceilings, marble and red tile floors make the hotel a bit chilly. In fact, we bought some slippers from the shoe shop round the corner (a regular occurrence?). The room was like a nun's chamber - simple white walls, red tiles. The bathroom was marbled, but the plumbing was clearly... More

This place could be very nice. It is beautiful in style and greatly located but in need of TLC. Sanitary is struggling with age, carpets, paint etc.. Breakfast is a bit of a shamble, but on the other hand, the staff is helpful and the "old style" accomodation fitting to the town. All in all not a bad experience. Pity... More

The tall ceilings, whitewashed walls, dark woodwork, and tile floors were all preserved when this 19th century building was converted into a hotel. Our room was spacious, and the bathroom modern and clean. The reception room, halls and breakfast room were lovingly decorated with pottery and flowers. The hotel was an easy walk from the cathedral, Roman temple and other... More

Stayed here for two nights to explore Évora. Right in the centre of the old town, most everything within walking distance. Beautiful old building, large enough room, good bed and facilities at a reasonable price.
