“A Room in the Centre of Lagos”

We arrived at Casa de S. Gonçalo without having booked in advance (luckily they had beds available but it's not always that way) and we ended up staying in one of the nicest places of our whole trip. The staff were very helpful and spoke great English. That's how we found out that the old Portuguese manor had been recently... More

“Frommer's got it wrong with this one”

Frommers' reccommendation of this place made it sound great, so we booked it over the phone (which was difficult, as the staff speaks very minimal english), but were VERY disappointed with our stay. The place is indeed charming, with an outdoor patio, lots of twisting hallways and portuguese tiles lining the stairs - but "charming" can sometimes be a synonym... More
