“Trying hard to please and defy the elements”

You have to remember that the Azores are green and verdant because they have a lot of rain. The temperature stays much the same day and night so a damp feel is difficult to avoid. After the past wettest of winters the owners of this establishment were trying their best to clean it up and paint outside when we arrived... More

This is a rustic establishment and as such does not have every luxury, yet the welcome was warm and the breakfast what you might expect in the Azores. The pool was fine. There were lots of deck chairs and parasols around. The owners gave a lift from town and picked up other members of our party. A good stay, overall

The Quinta do Canavial is a guesthouse with a great view, but a part from this, everything was dismissed and bad cared for. The room was small, the shower was rusty and without windows, the garden was dry and not well mantained. The rooms' furniture are very old and old fashioned with no care for details at all. Beautifully attended gardens and a small pool Our room was one of two on the ground floor facing the sea. With a coat of paint the balcony could be much more attractive The sports stadium does detract from an otherwise stunning view.
