My husband and I enjoyed our one night stay at the Hotel Astoria. This is a historic (1926) hotel that is a bit worn, but it still is very comfortable. The bathroom was certainly sufficient and, with a window, offered good lighting. The staff members were superb: friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. Our room had multiple bay windows and offered a... More

We stayed for one night at this hotel. I found it very charming but it is true that it looks a bit old. The location is good, in the city center, close to shops and restaurants. The room was clean with great views to the river, high ceilings and nice and clean bathroom. Helpful staff and breakfast was ok. We... More

This hotel has a great site by the river and very close to old town and university. Art nouveau/decode sign and furnishings give feel of grandeur from yesteryear albeit a little faded (understandable) Clean, friendly, air con and hot water a plenty. Good breakfast. The art nouveau ambience is the real plus however. Priced reasonably. Our room at the end... More

This is a very functional hotel, with charming atmosphere and decor making it feel like the 1950s and a bit ragged, but a very nice change from the typical hotel. We had a good view of river from our rooom, and there is an excellent large breakfast buffet. It is a great location for a visit to the city. Public... More

We found this incredible belle epoque hotel by chance - it was all perfect - the room, thereception's smile and service, the buffet breakfast, kindness in parking the car and the location in Coimbra could not be better. WE hope that such family chains will continue to exist and give their personal national rather than global touch.

I love the architecture of the building and when I got the opportunity to stay there for a night I took my chances. The groundfloor is amazing and so is the restaurant and the room left from the front desk and the elevator. Everything is so original that you have the feeling that you have the feeling that you arrived... More

I had to deliver a conference in Coimbra and the organizers booked me in this hotel because they know that I love charming hotels. And when I entered the room 309 and opened the curtains I was amazed by the wonderful view and the style of the room. It is true that the hotel needs some revamping, but it is... More

This is a delightful hotel, in the grand Art Deco style. Our room was in the turret, thrid floor, with balconies facing the river and the town. Great place to stay. Very reasonable package for two nights and Fado Show.We enjoyed touring the University, plus the Fado show at the Acappelo Theater. We also visited the fasinating Roman ruins just... More

Having read the previous experiences on 'Trip Advisor' I still decided go ahead and book the Hotel Astoria - and was really pleased that I did. Character and charm exemplify this hotel. The welcome from the staff was warm - the room (although a little 'tired') was large, clean with a good sized bathroom, our room looked out over the... More

Probably one of the oldest hotels in Coimbra and it certainly feels like it. The location is great overlooking the river and a decent walk up to the university or to the town center. The rooms are spacious but decoration and furniture old and chipped. Matresses are old and creaky. Bathroom tiles are stained ...overall does not feel like a... More
