All previous reviews on this hotel are correct from the negative to the positive. But for us we found the hotel worked despite being tired etc and extremely pleasant staff who were always helpful and friendly. Breakfast is always rolls juice jam and cheese with some ham.Tea or coffee But its so close to everything from cable car to s/mkt... More

This hotel is just very bad overall. The bed was incredible hard and unbelievable uncomfortable. The breakfast is a bun and a coffe. No juice, no milk, no bread or anything. This place is in a serious need of total referbishing and renovation in my humble opinion. The only goood thing was the balcony and the price. Managed to get... More

My friends and I stayed here last week as we were over in Madeira to see out football team play. So it was 4 lads staying, so this has probably influenced my review a little as I do think it is a cood location and hotel for singles or people not wanting to spend much time in their rooms. If... This is a well run place. No frills, no luxury but really friendly with English-speaking staff. It's located approximately 5 minutes walk from the main places you’ll need: historic city centre, bars, restaurants, shops, post office, bank, harbour, bus station and every other convenient you can think of. Our double room was spacious and clean. We’re given room 31, which... More

Having been to Funchal a few times we knew the Hotel's location and wanted a quick week away on a budget this hotel gave us that. We found the hotel to be exactly as described in other reviews on various web sites. Do not expect luxury, its old, its basic, its cheap but its very friendly and in a very... More

I really can't add much to what the above reviewer has put. It's a basic no frills place which is great as a base for exploration. downsides: I would have liked a kettle in the bedroom so I could make a coffee!; the main drag out of town is'nt that far away so you do get a bit of traffic... More

We booked this hotel as a central location, halfway between the Old Town and the museums and parks of the newer part. We thought the hotel was surprisingly good for an economy price. The rooms were clean and comfortable, the lift worked well, there was a lovely bar which served snacks and drinks with plenty of tables. The staff are... More
