The hotel is well located in Porto and is within easy walking distance of most sites and restaurants. It has reasonable facilities for a short stay and the staff are very friendly and efficient. Whilst I appreciate that this is a boutique hotel and is themed and designed as a theatre, there are a number of areas where the design... More

The location is indeed perfect to visit the main tourist spots of the city and also the bar area at night. The theater theme is all over the hotel which is nice but also makes it very dark. We stayed in a standard double room and the size was OK and clean only the pillows did not smell fresh and... More

I went with my husband for a long weekend. The hotel's location is central and easily accessible. We really liked the theatre style theme and felt a lot of thought has gone into the fixtures and fittings to ensure the theme is throughout all of the hotel. Breakfast was adequate with a decent selection of fruits, pastries and continental meats/cheeses.... More

I actually visited in May 2012 but by the looks of the recent reviews it is still as good at it was then!! Fab hotel, makes sure that the old cinema/theatre theme is apparent absolutely everywhere, from the costumes hanging around reception and the bar area to the 'mood lighting' throughout the hotel. by far the comfiest bed I have... My wife and I spent 3 nights in this hotel. It has to be one of the best hotels I have stayed in. Due to a damaged sink we were upgraded from a standard room to a junior suite, and I have to say that it was stunning. There are lots of other reviews that mention the lighting and bathrooms.... More

The wife and I spent 4 nights here over the bank holiday and had a wonderful time. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The location of the hotel is great, bang in the middle of the old town and still walkable down to the river front (taxi ride back up the hill is cheap as chips anyway!). Room was... More

One of the best hotel stays in my memory: The 'romantic' room was fabulous, the 7 course tasting menu was phenomenal, the wines fantastic and the breakfast on my all time top 3 list of hotel breakfasts made up of only superb components. Beautiful interior, great & bold tastes: this was a fantastic haven for experiencing Porto. I can very... More

A truly individual hotel. As others have commented the subdued lighting is completely different but so in keeping with the hanging rails of costumes, funky carpet and huge audience themed murals. The welcome and information from reception staff could not be faulted; the room was stunning with lots of natural light and an extremely comfortable bed. The bathroom arrangements were... More

My wife and I stayed for 34 Days in Oporto. It was really a pleasure to be a guest in this Hotel. Everyone was extremly freindly and helpfully. The Hotel design is dark but very special and outstanding. Maybe it will be good to havea little more light in the bathroom, especially for the ladys! But the atmosphaere ist great.... More

Just got back from a wonderful visit here, didn't want to come back! The service is very good and the staff so friendly and helpful. If you want a relaxed romantic break this hotel is for you. The rooms are on the dark side and the only critisism is lack of good lighting when getting ready for a night out,... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The Hotel Teatro arose from the spot where the Baquet Theatre was inaugurated in 1859. A hundred and fifty-one years later, the unique, refined and bohemian environment of the Theatre has been revived here in a hotel. The Reception represents a box office, where each guest receives a ticket to access their room. The Restaurant and Bar have become the new Palco and Plateia, offering creations for a discerning palate. The inner courtyard is a versatile garden or a quiet and secluded haven from the tumult of the city. The 74 comfortable rooms and suites are colored in gold and bronze, and the gym on the top floor transforms the Hotel into a true arena for action and relaxation. ... more   less
