Imagine spending a night or two in jail for a crime you never committed. I think the novelty effect made the stay all the more interesting but the tiny room was clean and comfortable. The hotel is on a small island about a 15 minute walk from the nearest metro station and about 4km from the center of town. Breakfast... More

My friend booked the flights, so it was my job to book the hostel. Hmmm, aeroplane hostel? Nope, it'll be at a noisy airport. Boat hostel? Nope, my friend doesn't do boats. Central hostel? Hmm, could be busy. Ohh, former prison hostel on an island?!!? She loved it! We got a room to ourselves in the wing where the prison... More

I was really surprised by how luxurious this hostel was actually. It essentially is a renovated prison and it looks amazing. I have a personal interest in prisons across cultures and have visited. Few renovated hotels and this was by far the best. There were many original features, yet had all the comforts needed. The staff weren't over friendly but... More

A tastefully transformed old prison (based on American 19th century prison designs with a bright open atrium) on an island close to the centre of city in a tranquil park. There is a choice between a more upmarket & expensive hotel and more affordable hostel; we stayed at a cell in the hostel and it was a great experience. Private... More

This hotel is situated on a lovely island that is a park and though it is quite and removed from the busy city it is just a few minutes walk to a busling area of Stockholm, Hornstull, all the restaurants, cafe´s, and shopping you could want and it's a short subway trip to Gamla Stan or a lovely coastal walk... I travelled to Sweden to try and see the Northern Lights. I flew to stockholm before catching a train to the North and some friends recommended the Langholmen hotel which was once the old prison. It has been beautifully refurnished and one sleeps in the old cells. It is situated in a very pretty Park, a short walk of about... More

The hotel it's three subway stations from Gamla Stan. The nearest subway station was 10-15 minutes walking, that's not a problem if the weather it's good but when it's raining, it appears to be a long way. We were on one of the formers guards room. The furnishing it's Ikea style and very modern, with a bunk bed. It was very... More

We stayed in this unusual hotel for four nights, quite an experience. The location is fabulous, on the island of Langholmen, a short distance by a small bridge to the rest of Stockholm. We had a twin room, a rare facility, there appeared to be only two of these on each of the three floors. The whole place has been... More

It's an old jail, retrofitted to todays levels of luxury you expect from a hotel, or hostel. You get to stay in cells, the city is walking distance, and you (usually) grt to park your car. Even the shower, and and mirrors are jail themed! Very nice work indeed. If I come back to Stockholm, I'm staying here.
