I went to Uppsala with my son to attend a seminar. Sweden was cold in March but the hotel staff at Akademihotellet were exceptionally warm. I would like to thank Jessica and Linnea for being so approachable and helpful. The twin room I booked was cozy and had enough space for a big luggage and smaller handcarry luggage. The room was warm and I loved the heater in the bathroom. The hotel was very near the Uppsala University where I had my seminar. A stone’s throw away is the very interesting bookstore, the Antikvariat Thomas Andersson whose owner is very friendly and a storehouse of knowledge. My son and I loved the pantry which was accessible 24 hours and had a coffee/hot chocolate machine and biscuits, as well as still water and sparkling water. The hotel also offers a laundry area with a washing machine and dryerl but the washing machine looked as of it had a red stain. They also have a sauna and a small gym free for guests.

An attractive conversion of a 1930s building, I think owned by the university. Attractive "Scandi" decor and furniture, with many nooks and corners for reading, and free coffee and snacks in the breakfast room all day. Small room with a view of the castle by standing on tiptoes, but thoughtfully furnished. Great location for the university and cathedral, 10 mins picturesque walk to the river and town centre, and another 10 to the railway station. Very quiet, attracts a more academic clientele.Warmly recommended.

Perfect location in Uppsala, close to the Botanical Garden. Clean rooms with basic standards. Friendly staff and a breakfast with different varieties. The bed was very comfortable and despite our window being above a street with heavy traffic bo noise entered during the night.

Pleasant, reasonably priced hotel with friendly staff in a great location between the cathedral and the castle. Basic, but with everything you need. There was a great view of the cathedral from our room.

I didn’t know that a hotel could be placed so close to the town centre and still be so not overpriced! Highly recommended with very nice staff and great facilities. Parking right outside our window for a small fee, and after a few steps you are in the middle of old Uppsala!

This is a hotel that you will experience a professional and friendly hospitality from the staff. We have no problem to check in late because Mr Anders had sent a very clear and details instructions from check in the hotel to car park. Room was very spacious and the mattress was very clean and comfortable. My son said it felt like home and we had extended our stay from 2 nights to 4 nights due to the Comfort, Convenience and friendliness of the hotel staff. Thank you very much all the staff like Anders, Jessica and the other two ladies from the front desk who make our stay so welcome and comfortable 😀

We are 2 adults over 65 who were in Uppsala for the start of a 3 week family history research visit to Sweden. We found this hotel to be overall one of the best we stayed at. The room was on the small side but very clean and neat. We had a good view out toward the cathedral. We were in walking distance of all of the central city. Breakfast was among the best we found in Sweden, and the coffee machine was definitely the best! So many choices, all good. We found nothing like it anywhere in Sweden, even in much more expensive hotels. Service was good. Our only minor negative was the small size of the bathroom, the shower had doors that folded inward to make more room when the shower was not in use,. Also, it was quite hot when we visited, and the lack of AC made it hard to sleep-- we needed to pull curtains to block out the midsummer light at midnight!

Thank you for choosing Akademihotellet. We are delighted to read that we had the honor of being part of a good start to your family history research in Sweden. So nice to read that you enjoyed your stay with us and appreciated our hotel, breakfast, service an our central location. Sometime it can be hot in the room when it is hot and sunny outdoors, our central system need to work hard to cool down the house. We hope the curtains and the fan in your room were to satisfaction during the hot summer night. We hope you had a wonderful visit in Sweden and we look forward to welcome you back again next time you are in town. Best regards Helena Hammarberg, Hotel Manager

We had a very good room at high level 3*** standard. Location nearby the city center, without being over-crowded. Plenty of restaurant choice on walking distance. Private parking. Good breakfast. Friendly staff.

The location of this property is terrific! It is right in the heart of downtown. Just a few minutes walk from the cathedral and castle. The property is spotless. The staff very helpful. A couple sweet treats and little sandwiches were available in the early evening. Parking is limited and costs $12 a day but if you can reserve a spot it is well worth it. Both the beds and pillows were comfortable. It is pricey but worth it for the location.
