About one year after first visit to this hotel, I found it better this time. This time rooms were better and also restaurant was serving as normal. Good thing about this hotel, is it's location, in center of this small town. Poor thing was the street noise.

All average hotel. In july or august rooms might be a bit hot - no AC... Town center location so most likely you will hear city noise from the streets (evenless we had a room opposite side to the nearby street and top floor). Room was 4 th floor an was like a sauna. Only a table fan try to help cooling down. Room was ok, bathroom was out of date. Hotel is in the main street, but was not noisy even by open window all night long.

The hotel is located in the middle of the small city centre of Kajaani. The staff was friendly and helpful and delivered the service required. My room (superior) was quite ok in size and had a decent bathroom. But.. 5 light bulbs in my room was out and the room was "tired" in appearance. The hallway/stair smelled a bitt sewer.... More

Usually S-hotels in Finland are good value for money, but this on I can not recommend. Worn out rooms, rooms are scattwred aroun in several buildings, breakfast is good in theory only (good ingredients, but even scrabled eggs were overcooked). The only good thing is the location in the centre of the town.

Good location, but rooms are old and poor. Also some issues with cleaning.

Having spent multiple nights in Scandic Kajanus, Sokos Seurahuone and Sokos Valjus, I have to say that this hotel (Valjus) is the place I'd least recommend to anyone. Like said in the previous review, there is no airconditioning and the rooms are very hot even in september. Blankets are very thick so it meant no sleep at all. Rooms and bathrooms are very small. We, an elderly couple without kids are frequent visitors in this hotel for many years. It would be five stars with air conditioning which they don’t have.
