Fantastic Hotel compared to the price you pay. Its located right at the centrum, with an excellent super-market nearby and many places to see. The tour buses starts at a place located only a few minutes walking distance from the hotel. The rooms are average but when you compare it to the prices of the other hotels in the vicinity... More

No bells and whistles at this "hotel." You basically get a bed and a shower. The front desk staff is a little elusive, but helpful when we asked about tours and places to see. The location was also pretty good - close to some attractions in Reykjavik. If you're looking for a very affordable place to basically put your bags... More

This is our second stay at the hotel, and thankfully not much has changed in the last year. To start with; The Metropolitan is in a excellent location within Reykjavik being 2-3 minutes away from a small restaurant area of the city which includes a few bars, post office, and a 24 hour supermarket. If you wanted to have a... More

A reduced price tempted me. The free arking turns out to be on the street a min or so walk away but not an inconvience. Excellent location for the 24 hr supermarket by the post office and there is a local 'corner' shop in the next street. If you want to check in before 2pm expect to stump up €15... More

Great location, but very poor accommodation. Our room was seperate to the rest of the hotel, it was up a pokey alley way, there were marks on the door frame as if it had several attempted breakins. The room had two single beds in, with the most hideous bed speads on, thay looked like the hadn't been washed in months.... More

Great location, near to the old harbour, breakfast plentiful but could do with more fruit. The rooms small but fine. Wetroom style shower rooms are good. Only gripe on the room is they could do with a bit more storage, a few shelves please! (we had to live out of the cases) Radiator wasn't working and we were cold but... More

Second time I have stayed there. Good location, just on the edge of downtown Reykjavik And close to the harbor. Basic rooms and basic breakfast. You can usually find good rates and the flybus and tour buses do pick you up from there.

Clean basic room with comfortable bed. In a fantastic location. Breakfast consisted of wholemeal and wry breads, crackers & digestives, various meats, choice of 3 cereals (1) museli, (2) cornflakes and (3) cheerios, choice of 2 fruit juices, selection of teas and coffees, various jams and a popular waffle machine. Staff were helpful, pleasant and polite. During our wait between... More

Stayed here with my girlfriend (both 24) for 6 nights in Feb 2011, read some pretty bad reviews and was at first worried about what the room would be like. However, the room was spacious, tidy and cleaned daily. Fridge worked fine, everything in the bathroom was fine, beds were OKAY. We had a nice big window to let in... More

I stayed there for 3 nights in November 2011. Need to mention that most of the reviews are correct. The hotel needs updating and proper refurbishment. The rooms are small, beds are narrow and some new & fresh bedding and towels will do. There was a TV in the room which I tried to watch but there was a problem... More
