I can only write about what we found and we did look at two other couples rooms and we were just very unlucky with room 517. I had e-mailed the hotel to say I have some limited mobility and needed to be able to get round the bed but in this room each single bed was pushed into a corner... More

As we were here for seven nights we chose to have a studio room. This was very large with a settee, table and chairs and a kitchinette which was spotlessly clean and well-equipped. Washing up liquid was provided, along with tea and coffee. The shower had a rigid screen. We knew food could be expensive in Iceland so chose the... More

Stayed at the Fosshotel Baron for four nights in early May. The hotel is in a good location, however it is about 20mins walk (3-4 mins drive) to the main town and bars although 2 mins from the Argentina Steakhouse and 5 mins to a few other restaurants. Our room was at the front of the hotel and the view was wonderful... Pleased to have made the decision to stay here having read other members reviews. Less than a five minute walk to the main shopping street in one direction and the harbour path in the other you couldn't find a better location to stay in the city. All staff I encountered were very friendly and helpful - a big plus in... More

I just got back from a 3 night stay at the hotel, we stayed in room 524, a standard room with limited seaview, mainly overlooking flats on the side, but the room was clean, comfortable, quiet and had tea/coffee facilities. The bed was comfortable and the room lovely and warm as it was cold outside. In the lobby there was... More

Rather underwhelmed by this hotel. Do NOT take a "historic" room - historic is code for badly in need of refurbishment and room has rotted out overhead wood beams. Bathrooms are very spartan and have absolutely no room for toiletries, etc. Rooms are clean but that's the best that can be said for them. Breakfast buffet is just OK -... More

Thank you for taking the time to write a review on Trip Advisor. I value your kind comments about the cleanliness of the rooms but I am sorry to read from your review that you did not enjoy our breakfast and your room. We do have a large selection of items on our breakfast buffet but we are always open... More

Regardless of the fact that this hotel is a Budget three star, it must be the most perfectly positioned hotel in Reykjavik. We had a room on the front right hand corner of the fourth floor (416) which was a double aspect suite with uninterrupted views of the bay and snow topped mountains against lovely cloudless blue skies. As the... More

Breakfast buffet was superb and meant you didn't have to find a place to eat prior to early morning excursions. Room was neat and tidy, tv limited channels. Staff very friendly, excellent location for exploring the city

I read excellent reviews on Trip Advisor of the Fosshotel Baron before I travelled to Reykjavik and I was not disappointed. Even before I arrived with a friend for a four day break, I received courteous replies to my emails in which I asked whether there were tea and coffee making facilities and hairdryers in the rooms. They even reserved... More
