Initial thoughts when we arrived and seen the outside was disappointment. We had booked a standard room with breakfast included. Booking.com offered me an upgrade to a suite. The hotel then charged us €9 pp for breakfast. However the room was one of the nicest rooms we stayed In. Breakfast was good but the juice watery. My biggest regret was booking it in the first place. I took off my eternity wedding ring and left it on the shelf in the bathroom while washing my hands. I forgot to put it back on. I emailed to check if they had found it after we left. They didn't find it but said they'd checked the laundry. It was on the shelf as I didn't want to get soap in the diamonds. I am very very upset as I know 100% it was left on the shelf. To say it ruined what was otherwise a nice weekend is an understatement. Tip.. Watch your valuables!

Very pleasant stay. Spacious and clean rooms, excellent bathrooms. Pets are allowed (we had two dogs). It is a walking distance from Europa Park and Würthersee. Next time we will visit Klagenfurt, surely this hotel would be our choice again.

We spent one night in that hotel. I was astonished that the 4stars hotel has rooms without air condition. Nearby there is a railway and the trains weak you up whole night when your window is opened. You can’t sleep, either it is to worm (without any ventilation) or when you open the window it’s too noisy.

Response from Iris Pranter, Gästeservice/Empfang at Hotel Plattenwirt
Responded 30 Jul 2021
Dear Chris, thank you for your review. You booked the low-priced standard rooms through booking.com where it states that this category has no air condition. All other rooms are equipped with air condition. Also, you arrived very late at night when it was raining and people wore jackets in the evening because it was very cool outside. We would have appreciated it when you had told us you were not happy with your room the moment you got to your room and not until next morning bad-tempered. We could have found a solution on the spot.

A ten-fifteen minute drive to the central train station (taxi is about 15 Euros), right next to the lake and a bus stop. Massive room with a sofa, flat screen TV and spacious bathroom. Under construction, but it was not a problem as it was still quiet and not that noticeable on the first floor. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Would love to return.

I have been here on a business trip and stayed several weeks so I can say a lot. First location. Hotel is close to the Worthersee, Mininundus, University and Lakeside and you can go there on foot. But if you need to go to the Klagenfurt center you will need to take a bus - or walk almost one hour. Hotel is close to the highway and I was a bit worried about the noise. Although my room was looking in the direction of the highway, windows are very good and you don't hear anything. The only thing you do hear (and sometimes feel a bit) is when the train or s-bahn pass. But that is not so frequent, especially during the night, and it should be a problem unless you are very picky. There is a big parking (free) so if you come by car this is a good choice. Rooms are nice and clean. Cleaning ladies are doing a good job. Food for breakfast is good. There are very nice ladies that will prepare you an omlet with bacon or something else if you want. Everything is almost same every day (like in other hotels) but there is lot to choose from so it is ok even if you stay a longer time. Free Wi-Fi is available in the hotel. At times when the hotel is full it can get a bit slow, so if you want to watch movies it may not be ok, but for normal surfing the web, messaging and calls it is good. I must point out is the service in the hotel because all the people are very nice and helpful. This is the main reason why I give 5* although everything else is also good. For the end I will add some more details about the bus and how to get to the center and back. During day is best to use line 10, and bus station Schiffsangestelle is close to the hotel. But last bus from the center is at 20h. Unfortunately during winter period night line 92 doesn't stop at that station so you need to get out at Minimundus Park&Ride or Hotel Worthersee. The second one is a bit closer, but I think it would be better to see it first by day because at night it might be confusing to find way back from there.

I usually stay in other hotels either in the centre or at the lake. Room was ok, the best part is the Nespresso machine. The hotel has a bar and you can have a drink on the terrace. Breakfast was nice. You can start a nice jogging tour immediately outside the hotel. I think I still prefer my other Klagenfurt options but the Plattenwirt is an option as well.

‪our experience was very bad even though we made a reservation several months before we arrived. It was the most awful experience in Austria in a four star hotel. We arrived and were given a room which is suitable for one person and not for a mature couple, and especially for a disabled person like my husband, and that was mentioned in the reservation. NO air condition in the room, no bottle of water as a welcoming drink, no night table near the bed and no night lamp near the bed . We could hardly move in the room. It is true that I knew that there might be noise from the train, but the noise was all night long . I don't think this room is worth taking even for free ,especially when we paid good money for it. All our requests to change the room were negatively received and in the afternoon one of the employees offered us a cup of cofee, The next day as we wanted to leave ,the owner of the hotel wanted to charge us for the cofee. I will pay any thing which I have to but that was really greedy and a shame for a four star hotel .We left and went to stay in another four star hotel better and cheaper. Our holiday was ruined.

This is a very friendly hotel. I had a spacious room for me and my dog with a outside patio facing the front parking lot. It was quiet at night. As you are on the sunny side of the lake there is the Autobahn and Train Tracks. If you are a light sleeper you may want a place on the other side of the lake. For us it was great. Beautiful park across the way, the lake and several good restaurants around the lake to walk to.
