Ideal location in Tromso, next to Hurtigruten harbour and airport bus stop. Clean & comfortable rooms, those on the top floor have views - we asked for 5th floor when booking. The staff could not have been more helpful; we only stayed the one night but were made welcome to use the facilities (sitting room, hot drinks, luggage storage) until the... stayed March end at this Hotel. next door to radisson Blu . Considering how expensive Tromso (and norway is), found this reasonable. at NOK 3300 for 2 for 3 nights. close to almost everything. Airport bus terminates at Rica which is less than 5 min walk. Helpful staff, front desk was always manned, even late in the night. Rooms are... More

Room: Stayed 3 nights in a budget double room. Small comfortable room with wardrobe, desk, modern TV, mini bar, fridge, small dining setting, tea/coffee making facilities. Free wi-fi with good connection. No safe facilities were provided in the room. Sleep Quality: Very comfortable double bed (doona only provided). The room was quiet and dark for sleeping. The morning light shone... More

We choose this hotel primarily as it was a family run hotel in central Tromso and not one of the big chain hotels needless to say we were not dissapointed. The staff were very friendly and extremely helpful, nothing seemed to be too much trouble. Breakfast was buffet style and there was a good choice of hot and cold food.... More

This hotel fitted the bill perfectly for our stay in tromso. It is right next to the rica hotel and radisson blu hotel where lots of tours leave from and right by the shops and restaurants. It was cosy and friendly and the staff were incredibly helpful. It felt like a much more personal hotel compared to the bigger chains.... More

The Amalie is situated in a very convenient location as you are so near to the main street and to the harbour. Many tours leave from the Rica hotel and that is only about 2 minutes walk away. The breakfast buffet was ample with a fair choice of dishes and you can help yourself to tea and coffee all day... More

A lovely hotel in a great location. A much better option than the more expensive chain hotels, Amalie is just down the road from Tromso Cathedral in one direction. the tourist office in another, & from the harbour & the Rica & Radisson Blu Hotels (where most of the tours leave from). Shops are also just up the road, &... More

I wondered why there are not too many recent reviews of the Hotell Amalie in recent months but that is (I think) because most of the visitors are Norwegian. This is a lovely, small independent hotel and we had a really comfortable stay. The buffet breakfast was excellent. Always a choice of sausage, scrambled egg, bacon, lots of fresh bread,... More

A comfortable hotel in the centre of Tromso with an especially friendly welcome. We stayed just one night but for the whole of the following day in order to catch the Coastal Steamer at midnight. Leaving luggage and being able to call in during the day despite haveing checked out presented no problem An inexpensive evening buffet is laid on... More

We spent 5 nights at the Amalie in Tromso in February 2011. The hotel is very unassuming on first appearance, sitting as it does on a street corner next a newly re-opened Italian restaurant. But looks are often deceiving. The Amalie Hotel is a good hotel well located to the local bus terminal, city centre shops and Fjord cruise liners.... More
