I recently stayed in Room 13 of the Capel St Mary Travelodge. Firstly I have no complaints about the reception staff, the woman was polite, friendly and efficient. Unfortunately the Travelodge itself is in dire need of refurbishment; the whole place seems dirty and rundown. My room (No 13) smelled musty and damp, (the bathroom tiles and bath surround has... A very disappointing stay because of incessant road noise. Breakfast also a bit sad at the Little Chef.

The mentality of the highest ranking of management of Travelodge has to be questioned!!! We arrived on a freezing cold day with bitter cross winds and ran into reception area of this Travelodge at 2.25!! Cold and wet!!...........note the time.....it will become essential to the rest of the story! The reception was empty of guests and two reception staff were... More

It's a fairly standard Travelodge - nothing wrong with that. Staff were friendly. Rate was cheap. Close to nice places to eat but you have to drive. It can be a bit noisy depending on which part of the hotel you are in but I always take earplugs to any hotel!

Hotel is clean, convenient location just off the A12, and at £23.50 for the night quite cheap. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom clean. The Little Chef next door is Ok but their coffee machine wasn't working so only standard coffees available. I was in room 20 right at the end of the corridor nearest the A12 (very near... More

We stayed here en route to Amsterdam via Harwich port, which is a 30 minute drive away. It was a little difficult to find and not where the TomTom told us it should be!!! I would suggest they get an illuminated sign to help. It's actually right next to the police station (which is where we initially tried to book... More

This Travelodge has been refurbished and seemed clean, with new sheetboarding over the tiles in the bathroom. The TV was HD. A bit noisy if the window is open but the view out the back was over fields. Good service. Couldn'tfind the elevator,

Managed to bag a cheap room for stay on way to Harwich. Right on main road next to Little Chef. Sat Nav wanted to take us to next roundabout and double back but we got there in the end. Basic but clean as always. No frills but what do you expect for the price.

As with all Travelodges booked well in advance they offer truly excellent value for money. This particular hotel is well situated on A12 trunk road and although so close to the road the traffic noise was not particularly bad. Room clean and reasonably spacious, linen and bathroom fine. No restaurant on site except Little Chef but large supermarket few minutes... More

Didn't arrive until 10pm and was greeted by a really friendly lady, the room and bedding were clean and for a one night stay was perfect although I wouldn't have wanted to stay too long as it was like sleeping on the hard shoulder of the M14 !
