I hadn't been to the Peldon Rose for several years, but recently visited with my family for Sunday lunch. The Sunday menu is a little limited but offers better value (about £16 for 2 courses).. The menu on the website is hopelessly out of date, so suggest you call to check. The building is lovely, although some people may find... More

First, I want to thanks the Peldon rose for his warm welcome. This is the first impression we have and we keep this impression during all our stay : A very friendly place. We were lucky enough to have a nice weather so we spend most of our afternoon outdoor in the garden. Just perfect to chill and drink a... More

Dear Sir/Madam, I am saddened and disturbed to hear these comments and I sincerely apologise for your experience. This goes against our ethos of friendly & welcoming service at all times and is the kind of basic (but massively important) error that I would not expect from any of my staff. If you could let me know when you came... More

I've visited this pub on and off for about 15 years as a drinker and also as a child on trips to Mersea so I know it fairly well. It's a well kept pub. The grounds are also well kept and next to a nice pond. It contains a walled garden. The quality of food and service has varied over... More

We visit the rose very often and have always been made welcome. Food and proper beer (always four good ales on tap) clean tidy and a good atmosphere with the best staff by a country mile. If anyone thinks differently they must be dead from the neck up.

We went to eat at the Peldon Rose last evening. The pub lacked atmosphere, lighting the fire would have been nice. I ordered the cauliflower soup which came out luke warm, I asked for it to be heated which was taken care of. Two of the other chosen starters were not available, it was only 8.15pm and the pub was... More

Lovely food, good service and made to feel comfortable in lovely surroundings what more could you ask. Will be back again to try something else on the menu. Family visit. We occupied two of the three en suite bedrooms. Very comfortable beds with excellent linen. Recently refurbished bedrooms with small shower rooms. Large excellent Full English Breakfast is included and there is a limited choice of cereals and orange juice which is acceptable for the price charged. Excellent welcome and service. Will stay again when in the area.

Went to the Peldon Rose Friday evening for dinner on a Travelzoo offer. It was excellent value for a three course meal including a glass of prosecco. We sat in the conservatory which is attractively decorated and had a lively vibe. Service was friendly and efficient. The food was good quality and generous in portion size. The only criticism was...
