Had a wonderful restful time, in a beautiful location with excellent food and interesting other guests. Definitely will be going back again for more, well worth a visit.

We have just spent 4 days at Cambus O'May. We had a very pleasant time, food was lovely, room very comfortable. In spite of the hotel being quiet, as it was very low season, the service was very good and we were made to feel welcome at all times during our stay. We would certainly return to this hotel.

We have just returned from a one week holiday at the Cambus O May hotel, Ballater. We love it here! Beautiful location set within it's own pine woodland, part of the Cambus O May Forest. Have been receiving such a warm welcome for the past seven years. Guests we meet here have been returning again and again, sometimes for decades,... More

And she stays at this wonderful, old-fashioned but absolutely enchanting place. 15 of us arrived and not one wanted to leave the next morning. If you want blandness and a sterilised atmosphere, don't stay here. But, if you value the highest standards of rooms, surroundings, service and food (my God, that cheeseboard!) and you are within 50 miles of Deeside,... More

It's the sort of hotel that once discovered people go back to time and time again- for years. I've travelled extensively and there's nothing quite like it- a little quirky, traditional and even endearingly old-fashioned, it's one of a disappearing breed of totally individual highland country house hotels not yet spoiled by corporate branding, hotel cloning or trendy updates. If... More

I visited Cambus O'May Hotel last weekend together with my husband and three friends. We had been there before a couple of times, and were delighted to be welcomed back warmly by Wissie and her team. Despite the dreadful winter they had had, we enjoyed warm rooms, very comfortable accommodation, a welcome cup of tea and biscuits when we arrived,... More

Went here on the recommendation of friends who gave us a full idea of what to expect of this old-fashioned, family run fishing hotel. If you weren't forewarned, it might be a bit of a surprise! We had a comfortable & cosy double room with modern furnishings - large bathroom, loads of hot water (just as well, as it snowed... More

I stayed at Cambus O'May for 2 nights in September. When you drive up the driveway and see the house you think you've picked this wonderful old Scottish hotel. Old yes, wonderful no! The hotel is caught up in a time warp and very very out dated. Old fashioned is putting it mildly. The other very distressing thing is that... More
