We revisited St Nicholas Lodge only to find the same welcome from Dorothy who treats all her guests as indivuals serving up delicious home-cooked breakfasts and allowing one to "feel at home" as soon as you walk through the door. Room 3 and 8 offer large bay windows looking down on to the South bay which is very beautiful and... More

Just arrived home from staying at st. Nicholas lodge and can honestly say it is one of the nicest b&bs we have stayed in. Was dubious at first as have had previous bad experiences with b&bs. We payed £60 for a sat night stay with breakfast included, the room was huge and was an old Victorian room with a modern... More

Thank god for a hotel where you can still smoke! This is an old, converted town house opposite the famous Grand Hotel (so always easy to find if you don't know the town) and as such a little old fashioned, especially the rules with regard to keys for the room and front doors. The room was perfectly adequate and the... More

Scarborough has always been 'my favourite place' and now I have found my 'favourite place' to stay - St. Nicholas Lodge. My cousin (Vikki) and I have stayed there three times now and have NEVER had cause for a complaint. Indeed after our first visit we left a Thank You card for Dorothy which is something I have never done... More

Stayed in the St Nicholas Lodge for the second time this weekend just passed and the place was as good if not better than before. I am not sure what all the negative reviews are about, these people are clearly going into the place with the wrong attitude. As for some of the negativity, I would fully expect a room... More

from the moment you walk through the door all the horrible woman on the reception wanted is your money £10 for the keys and remote control for telly, 10p for teabags, 5p for sugar, 10p for milk, and this is after just paying £180 to stop in the place, room stunk of fag smoke no heating on in room and... Nothing wrong with the room - perfectly adequate for £35 a night. Except we were not told when booking it (or when being asked to pay in advance before seeing the room) that our room allowed smoking !!!! This may be great for smokers - but for me, it was like bedding down in an old ashtray. Little things like... More

We didn't really plan on where to stay, but finding this local Lodge after looking around the cliff area (grand hotel) we found this jewel! Dorothy who runs this place is fantastic, hey she even met Pele! Plus has a photo of him with her from the 70's... For £38 plus £5 for breakfast we couldn't complain, the room was... More
