Hotel in a great location, but the dirty bedrooms have to be seen to be believed. Thick dust on dado rails, thick dust behind objects on drawers, carpet dirty and not laid properly, rubbish from previous guests in drawers, cobwebs hanging from lights, which had three bulbs out. did not use kettle due to the state of it. Smell of mould... More

Stayed overnight at weekend for one night. Friendly service and fascinating history to hotel and Victoriana details throughout. Carpets in room could do with replacing but otherwise very good value and tasty breakfasts.

I was considering staying at this hotel but not any more. If you enter this place do not try to pay with Scottish money as they no longer accept it. Better still give it a miss! I had just got off the train from Scotland and at the time had no English notes so I tendered a Scottish £5 note... More

we arrived here after a four hour journey from Birmingham to a friendly welcome, on entering the building from the small car park through the bar we were directed to reception, check in was quick, we entered our room (no 4), it has a four poster bed, smashing, room is spacious, clean ,airy, fresh clean towels, biscuits, tea and coffee.... This sounded perfect for my needs and at 44 pounds was not cheap (single occupancy), the pictures looked good and it was just around the corner from the Assembly Hall where I was going to see a show. On arrival it just looks like an old fashioned pub from the roadside. I went into the bar and was re-directed to... More

I loved this old building. I agree that the bedrooms were a bit 'tired' but for a budget hotel it was more than adequate. The pub itself is great and the owners seem to really appreciate its history. There are many original features and an atmosphere that you just don't get in more modern budget hotels. I would much rather... More

The hotel has a nice old feel about it but is just at the start of being a bit tired from its last spruce up. The disappointing thing with the hotel is the cleanliness which leaves a lot to be desired. Breakfast is buffet style and was very nice being taken in the conservatory which once again could do with... More

Stayed here for one night, after overunning work caused us to stay in Worthing for the night. Found this hotel via an Iphone App (we was looking for a buget hotel, £54 for a twin, inc Breakfast). It's quite an old hotel/pub with a typical aged character about it, the room was clean & warm. The pub has a variety... More

I stayed here for 2 nights in December and I don't think my room had been cleaned for several months. There was mud on the carpet which had not been hoovered for some time and the bathroom was full of cobwebs, The whole room was dusty and cold - the radiator did not work. Staff were friendly and breakfast was... More
