Having been evacuated from our house because of a horrific road accident my family and I spent seven weeks at the Windlestrae. I have nothing but praise for the staff who all went out of their way to make sure we were well looked after. The rooms are being refurbished at the moment and all I can say is WOW!

We spent easter weekend here, Nice comfortable hotel, we had 2 children with us, we must have had a room that had been updated because reading the other reviews about dated furniture etc, we didnt have that, our room was rm 400, very bright, fresh and comfortable. We had spa treatment and so did our daughter who is 12. She... More

Went into reception and was overpowered by a damp smell. Asked to see the room before booking in. the room was the same. Windows very dirty, furnitire looked like to had been bought from a second hand shop. Bathroom was ancient and not clean. Did not book in.

This is the poorer sister of The Green across the road. The rooms are poor and in need of significant investment. The bathroom was of student or hostel standard. Breakfast was fine and the staff were pleasant. Maybe its set up for lads golf weekends or to support the excellent wee venue for second time around touring bands at the... More

Arrived in late afternoon on a Friday, to a very warm welcome from "Heather" who immediately changed our room to a ground floor one when noticing that my wife would have difficulty managing the stairs. ( sadly no lift). This caring attitude seems to pervade throughout all the staff we encountered during our two day stay; from the night porter,... More

Went to the Windlestrae on Friday 6th April for one night and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Arrived around 14.30 and got checked in, the room was very clean and comfortable with crisp white sotton sheets and large white fluffy towels. Got changed and went to use the hotel leisure facilities. Used the gym which was well appointed with all the... More

We stayed here with an itison deal for two nights bed and breakfast including a bottle of wine. First impressions where good the receptionist was very friendly and helpful. Stayed in a double room on the first floor which was a bit dated but had a huge bed and very comfy. The bathroom really could do with updating as the... More

All staff were warm & welcoming. Room 308 was like a sauna, as it was a lovely sunny day, the heating was on, the window was closed & the curtains were open. The large bright spotlessly clean room overlooked houses, had no blind so we had to keep the curtains closed throughout our stay. The lightweight curtains didn't meet in... More
