Just back from The Belsfield and we had a lovely time, although the furniture in our bedroom was well worn it didn't detract from the gem this hotel is. We had a lake view from our room and the staff always tried to seat us at or near the window for our Breakfast & Evening meal. The breakfast was good with... More

Thank you for your praise of the hotel following your recent stay. We try to offer guests the opportunity to enjoy a lake view table either for breakfast or dinner so they can appreciate the serenity and peacefullness of the views. For those who take the time to appreciate the interior decoration from the hotels origins as a private residence,... More

I stayed at the Belsfield for 3 nights in April, with my wife and her sister and husband. The Hotel is in a prime location looking down over the jetty's on Windermere. We paid extra for lake view rooms, and the view when you woke up in the mornings was stunning and well worth the extra expence. The staff from... More

My wife and I stayed at the Belsfield for a four-night "Bridge" holiday. We knew it was a big traditional hotel and expected the sort that tend to attract coach parties, and hence be tired with everything cut down to keep within a low budget. Reading the recent review from "StChristopher" rather confirmed our doubts. . But we couldn't have... More

My son (age 14) and I spent a night here during the Easter holidays. The restaurant looks out over the lake and the view is beautiful. Old fashioned hotel but that adds to the charm, too modern would be out of keeping in this area. Staff friendly and helpful. Convenient for ferry to Ambleside. Will go again for longer next... More

This hotel has the most amazing location and views across Lake Windermere are fantastic. Half of the rooms, the restaurant, bar and reading room look out across the lake. It is well worth upgrading to a lake view room if you are going to stay here. The breakfast is lovely, with great choice of both hot and cold, with great... More

Arrived for a prebooked 2 night stay and the receptionist had all the paperwork ready for us to sign. She was polite and friendly and directed us to our ground floor garden/lake view room. The room was nicely decorated/furnished and had a powerful shower over the bath, t.v., hairdryer, ironing board and iron and tea and coffee making facilities and... More

I booked a two night break for two....on the last minute...directly with the hotel. We were given a very reasonable price for two nights bed, breakfast and evening meal in a room with a lake view. I have always wanted to stay at this hotel due to the location.....directly overlooking the lake..and was not disappointed. The views were fabulous....from the... More

My wife booked a two night, mid week break for my birthday, and we stayed in a 'superior' room overlooking the lake. The first thing we noticed on entering the reception area was a rather foisty smell. Booking in was done very efficiently, and we were directed to our room, although on the second floor, no offer to help with... More

Thank you for your comments following your recent stay. I can understand your comments with regards to some of our furniture however it is in character with the ambience of the building. Perfectly situated hotel over looking the lake. Only 5 min walk to all shops, bars, restaurants. The hospitality was second to none and the facilities were great for a 2 night break. The only small note I would make is that the swimming pool could do with a little revamp. The pool is very clean and great temperature but looks... More
