The Royal Mackintosh Hotel is close to the centre of Dunbar, we arrived at about 2130hrs and found that the car park was fairly small but we managed to squeeze the car in somehow. Check in was quick and we were taken directly to our room which was a pleasant change to being given directions at reception. The room was... More

With seemingly very little to choose from in Dunbar , l opted for The Royal, l wasn't disappointed, l was greeted by a friendly guy doing the bar and reception as they do in small hotels, expecting to be told where the room was.. l was escorted and my bags carried for me ....l appreciated this after a long journey.... We stayed in the hotel on 26 April 2013 and we decided to take our dog with us also. When we got to the hotel the staff made us feel incredibly welcome. When we were going to have our meal, a member of staff, Amanda, said that she would look after our dog whilst we were eating. The hotel was... More

We purchased an Itison deal for a meal for 2 and have to say that it was excellent. The young girl who welcomed us and showed us to our table was delightful and created a great first impression that matched the rest of the evening. Dining room is beautiful and has an interesting history - food good and plenty of... More

When we arrived at the Hotel Mackintosh we were greeted by two very unfriendly girls, they remained unhelpful throughout our stay. We were shown to our room and it was fantastic, could not fault it at all, it was huge with a gorgeous view! The bathroom needed a good clean but still not too bad. We decided to eat in... More

Just back from another 2 night stay at the Royal Macintosh Dunbar, we arrived on Sunday around 13.00 and got into our room straight away. We got room No.25 which looks out to the front of the hotel, the room was really nice and bright and nice decor and with a large bed and with all the complimentry hotel toiletries,... More

Didn't stay in the rooms but we ate here one evening and had some local seafood which was lovely. The food was timed perrfectly - we were a group of 6 and all of our food appeared at the same time. It was a little chilly in part of the restaurant so do ask them to turn the aircon down... More

Very nice hotel, "english/scottish" style. Very clean room and nice people assist you during your stay. I strongly recommend it if you need a place close to Edinburgh. The hotel has also a good restaurant

Stayed here last week and a very pleasant stay. The room was small but spotlessly clean. The staff very good indeed.Couple of points the car park is very small. The bar was closed at 10.30pm. They dis serve an unusual beer Belhaven black which was first class The boiler broke and the staff were very apologetic. The breakfast was excellent
