Didn't stay although I would be happy to try the place. We just nipped in for the carvery and a pint of Goddards beer. The food was very good, lots of it, and good value. Staff very obliging. dining room fine and full of guests munching their way through tasty food and tantalising desserts. There is a friendly welcoming atmosphere... More

My partner and I have just returned from 5 days on IOW staying at Holliers Hotel. We travelled by coach with a group of much older people, who were all very pleasant. We were impressed by the organisation of the whole holiday. On arrival at the hotel, we were welcomed by the proprietor, given our key and directed to our... More

Hotel is well situated in Shanklin 'old village'. It's in need of a make-over but we were lucky to have a good size room and bathroom which were clean however the shower was a hand held one in the bath with no shower curtain...a bit awkward. Our friends in the next room had a very small room with a VERY... More

I booked this hotel along with ferry before reading the reviews, then I read them and thought people were just being fussy but boy was I wrong! The bed squeaked to high heaven when you so much as breathe and there was a strong smell of awful peach air freshener mixed with cabbage and meat smells from the carvery downstairs.... More

I read some unfavourable Trip Adviser reports on Hollies Hotel before going there myself, so had some preconceptions on what to expect. Being an ex-hotelier, I understand the problems and hard work involved with offering your home to paying guests and long ago realized that old adage “You can’t please all of the people, all of the time”, how true... This hotel is in need of some serious renovation if it is to keep on trading. Its a vicious circle, I know, as its a srtuggle to survive in the best of cases but you can,t keep putting people into a room smelling of mould, windows that will not open and rooms you cant control the heating in. The beds... More

Went on a coach trip with Just Go holidays to this hotel. My wife and I really enjoyed it. Steve and Dawn who run the hotel were the supreme hosts. Nothing was too much trouble for them. They and all the staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. When we were on the coach getting ready for our run home, most... More

Having read some of the unfavourable reviews about this hotel, I felt that I must say my bit! My husband and I have been to Shanklin for the last 3 years as we love it so much. We don't normally stay at this hotel because we go to the one that we stayed in the first year we came but... More
