Falling apart, decor from the 70s and staff with bad attitudes.... from the screeching cleaning lady and bottle bin emptying first thing in the morning, to the delights that are reception staff whose condescension and generally confrontational manner on checking out is truly wondrous. If everywhere else is full, sleep on a bench next to the lake, it's more comforting.

When hotels.com relocated us to the Scarisbrick, initially, we were thrilled, obviously thinking this would be a upmarket hotel, thinking it would have a great reputation, given its location, and having had many wonderful family dinner dances there in the past .How wrong we were! The receptionist put on a false friendly attitude, and tried to charge us again for... More

Stay away until the refurbishment is complete. After reading the reviews here I was concerned as I had been booked to stay here with a group. All of the points made on the reviews are valid - the entrance smells rancid, the rooms need the upgrade they are currently getting, there's a problem with the hot water in some rooms... More

This was possibly the worst hotel l have ever stayed in. It is undergoing major refurbishment and is in total disarray. It's dirty dusty and smells bad. The rooms were ok but very basic. The location was probably the worst l have ever experienced, it has a bar on the ground floor of the hotel with thumping music till midnight... More

I booked the Scarisbrick Hotel for a business trip. I was not warned that it was currently being renovated. There are dust covers and workmen all over the hotel. The car parking is very small and tight. I was regularly blocked in by workmen and had to walk quite a distance back to the hotel to ask for the vehicles... More

Did not get off to a good start as we were supposed to be in the prince of wales we were told on arrival the rooms had been double booked. We were told we would be staying across at the scarisbrick.I had read the reviews on the scarisbrick which were not very flattering. We were then told that 1of the spa... More

Oh lordy! what happened to the place! we came here many years ago and it was lovely, nice staff nice owners/managers....but now it,s the total pits! I agree with other reviewers, it will be very supprising if this place is still open for business in 6 months to a year's time! Southport is a great place however, and although the... More

Found hotel very unwelcoming, both at reception and the general state of the building.Very dirty with major building work and refurbishment being undertaken. Our room, after three changes, was on a floor which was part of the building site.No heating in room on some nights had to request plug in heater.Soft furnishings in room worse than shabby. No pleasant communal areasor lounge for relaxation-leisure centre... Undergoing major refurbishment.Builders working. Filthy dirty. Large patches of mould on bathroom window, unable to open any windows as no sashcords.Would not sit on chairs in room, very worn & dirty.Heating & hot water very hit & miss. Leisure facilities out of action.Darn in sheet. Nightclubs open until early hours. Should be closed down. Awful reputation in Southport.
