If you want boutique then this is not for you. However if you are a realist and practical person this place has all you need.Decor in rooms is dated and simple but nonetheless the room I had was clean, the bed was comfortable and the shower worked and had hot water. The host is a lovely gentleman and was helpful, courteous and polite. The breakfast was served at time requested and although simple was of excellent quality.Price for room was reasonable in comparison to competitors prices. All in all a clean, comfortable stay and would have no hesitation in returning.

We were unable to stay at the hotel due to deeply personal and upsetting family reasons. We had no alternative than to cancel the booking through the booking website 45 hours before our stay was due to take place. The policy was 48 hours before the stay was due to take place. The owner Fred didn't respond to our message until a full 34 hours later, suggesting that if he receives another booking that he wouldn't charge us. He clearly didn't try too hard, given how long he took to respond and knowing he could claim the fee from us anyhow. We have no way of verifying as to whether he took another booking or not. We were even charged for the inclusive breakfasts he knew we weren't going to have.!!

AVOID AT ALL COSTS First impression wasn’t great, looks like a abandoned hostel with flaking paint and weeds coming out of all the plant pots outside, the owner opened the door and I was immediately hit with the fact the place was very dated and old smelling. The owner was very pleasant in himself and he explained that we would need to pre order breakfast and to write this on a scrappy bit of paper, the menu he gave me had a order written on and I asked do i write on this and no someone else did that, doesn’t take much to print a new one off. He showed me to my room, which he kindly let me have the key prior to the time we should have checked in as it would have been very late when we coming back from the festival. On arriving back from the festival we parked our car in the back carpark and walk up the fire exit to enter the building and the first thing that hit us was the horrendous smell of cannabis as we walked in the door. Luckily the smell wasn’t in our room. The bed was obviously broken on the one side as it sank when you lay on it and when you rolled over you felt you were going to fall out of bed. Hence no proper sleep that night In the morning went to go for a shower to find we only had a bath even though on booking.com it stated there was a shower and there was a half bottle of shower gel left in the bath which I find very strange. Breakfast was served to our room which which had to eat of a little side table and 2 stools which are not practical. The first thing that’s hit me with the breakfast was the smell of grease and the bacon looked like it was cause damage to your teeth it was that hard. Cutlery and toast wrapped in kitchen roll not napkins. Not. Pleasant start to the day. When we check out my Husband went downstairs to hand the key in and pressed the buzzer to have a door open to him by a lady dressed in a nightdress.

I stayed here for a night due to work. Hosts were very rude when I asked for my room to be cleaned again before I used it. The shower had hairs in it and a half used shower gel bottle left in it. The toilet was the strangest thing I have ever seen as it was in what looked like an old walk-in wardrobe. The room was drab, dirty and had a grubby feel about it. The bed was awful. I am asthmatic and booked this hotel as it is advertised as non smoking however my room and the whole place in general smelt of cigarette smoke. I am not sure what the breakfast was. It was meant to be poached eggs on toast but came as a half poached/half scrambled egg on soggy barley toasted bread. A cheap carton of orange juice was also provided. I certainly would never recommend this hotel and would never stay here again.

This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in.I booked 2 rooms…a double with en-suite for myself at £85 for the night and a twin room for my sons at £87 for the night.I wouldn’t even call it a hotel. It is more like an abandoned old hostel. On arrival I actually thought I had arrived at the wrong place. The first thing that hits you is the smell of unclean oldness and cigarette smoke. The owners were friendly but absolutely not interested in anything negative being said regarding the place. I would not of stayed here had I not had only 1 hour to get to the party I had arranged nearby and the fact I live in Scotland and couldn’t find an alternative place to stay. I was meant to pay on check out but the owner took the money from my card BEFORE I had even checked in! So I couldn’t even challenge the price. The room initially smelt ok as fresh air spray had obviously been used. The room was not what I would call en-suite as the toilet was in a cupboard and the sink and shower were in the bedroom. The Bed was a double made from a single bed! Toilet cupboard was damp and mouldy. The shower was unclean with towels and shower mat unwashed from previous guests. The shower was unusable as there was an electric socket next to the shower where the shower curtain hung. A piece of Lino flooring was used as a mat to protect the old dressing table. Breakfast was greasy, smelt of cheap meat and the cutlery comes wrapped in kitchen roll! I didn’t eat it and left it on its cheap plastic tray that it arrived on. The guest next door was arguing all night and sat leaning against my door eating a takeaway kebab and smoking at 1am! The only thing the owners did was to clean the toilet seat and sink in the twin room as it was covered in hair and urine from the previous guests! Avoid this place at all costs as it’s certainly not how it’s advertised through booking.com.

I live in Macclesfield and was having a family party post covid lockdown, as my house was full with the rest of my family my parents decided to stay here, they were happy enough as was basic but clean. Now my father is almost 90 and my mother just a little younger. They basically slept there and had their breakfast and spent the rest of the time at my house with the family. They only stayed the Saturday night and received the below email Sunday evening: "Hi Diane, A Kings Royale fork is missing from one of your breakfast tray. We could not find it anywhere in the room. It may have been packed with your belonging. Please arrange return of Chadwick House Hotel Kings Royale fork. Kind regards Fred" My mother replied explaining that there was only one fork as although she had had pouched eggs on toast my father had only toast and jam (this was pre ordered and brought on trays to the room). The hotel didn't reply to them so I gave them a call. To my astonishment Fred was adamant that the fork was missing and both trays had forks on them. I was in absolute shock! I had put the email down to perhaps lack of English skills, but to realise that they are blatantly accusing my elderly parents both retired medical professionals of stealing a fork is completely unacceptable. I have told my parents to keep an eye on their credit card in case it is some sort of scam where they try and charge for lost or broken property.

We booked last minute as quite a large family. It was ideal for what we wanted, comfy beds, parking, wifi, a smart TV and lovely breakfast. The hosts were super friendly and helpful. We will certainly be back.

For a single night stay (arriving late and leaving early) this hotel was ideal; no worse than a Travelodge or Premier Inn but a lot less expensive! Fred and Mina were friendly and helpful, breakfast was good, parking was free and the room was clean and comfortable.
