We have visited many times but circumstances forced a gap last year. Delighted to find that at 'Farlam' nothing changes. A great welcome from both the family and staff and a perfect short holiday in this superb and very English country house. If you enjoy comfort and good food you should try it.

As frequent guests at Farlam Hall Hotel over the last 5 years my wife and I feel we can give an accurate and unbiased opinion of the hotel. You can always be sure of a warm and friendly welcome from the family and staff. They are unwaveringly pleasant and helpful; nothing is too much trouble for them whether you are... More

I have used Farlam Hall on many occasions and it has never ever failed to impress me. It is very English Country House without being stuffy. It is very welcoming the food is marvellous and the rooms are all different and unique in their own way but equally they are all wonderful. If you want to splash out on a... More

Visited Farlam Hall, with a quiet 6 momth old child, for afternoon tea with friends to be told, arrogantly, that no children under 5 allowed. No mention on telephone when booking made. Pretentious and arrogant staff and sarcastic remarks made about a special diet requirement for an adult. Didn't take it up on the day as I didn't want to... More

For those perhaps more familiar with ''Mercure'' type basic hotels, it should be noted that Farlam Hall is a traditional English country house hotel with decor and old fashioned attitudes to good service to match. No sooner had I stopped the car than the owner was there to greet and take care of the luggage. After a long drive from... More

Shameless greedy and over pretentious bossy owner. Lots of "rules" and zero tact !- the down trodden chef is only good thing about this awful establishment Faulty Towers without the humour ! Ugly chintzy tat everywhere we were told "very busy" but hardly anyone staying..one could stay at one of top fashionable London hotels for prices charged ! Very expensive... More

Was guided here by chance and it turned out to be a winner! A gracious welcome, a superb room, extremely competent cuisine and efficient service. Was an excellent surprise to find such high standards still exist. Charm with a capital C.

I stayed at this hotel recently whilst in the area on business. The hotel is just lovely and the staff extremely helpful and attentive. I was up graded to a large room and had a wonderful nights sleep (very rare for me in hotels!). I did eat dinner at the hotel and the food was excellent (they catered very well... More

Many places describe themselves as “country house hotels”. Few actually actually achieve the aim of making you feel almost like you’ve been invited to someone’s home for the night. Farlam Hall hits the mark on all counts. There’s a lovely building in lovely surroundings. You’re welcomed at the front door by a member of the family and immediately offered afternoon... More

Stayed for two nights on full board terms. One of those few places where the owners have managed to strike a perfect balance between relaxation, without abandoning appropriate formality, and the maintenance of high standards both in accomodation and in the kitchen. Nothing was too much trouble and all the staff displayed a sympathetic understanding of what was required. If... More
