We chose to stay at The Weary for one night after some friends had recommended it as a lovely place to go for some R&R. Initial impressions were good.....the bedroom was very spacious and the bathroom was really nice with a lovely jacuzzi bath and separate shower. We ate in the restaurant that evening and we were both really looking... More

Stayed at The Weary with a bunch of colleagues over two days. Warm welcome from the owner who continued to provide an attentive and high level of customer service throughout our stay. Beautiful location in a charming village. The best part of the stay was the food which was fantastic, good wines too. Lots of attention to detail. I liked... More

I stayed recently with my wife and 7 month old daughter. The welcome was fantastic and friendly by the owner Ian who showed us to our room, carried our luggage and helped us settle in. We stayed in the largest room which was clean and the super king size bed was the best we've had when travelling. The housekeeper did... More

Our daughter planned to stay here on a two day Business Trip to Cumbria and invited us for dinner. After reading some of the reviews I was rather dubious about the sort of meal we would get. However despite what the previous reviews said, we found the place delightful. The range of food on the menu was excellent. The preparation... More

Having reviewed the website we decided that, although expensive, we would treat ourselves as it all looked fantastic and would be a great last night to our week long break on our way back north. When phoning to book was told only one room available - the most expensive one at £140 B&B. We realised that they were obviously desperate... More

If you want a base for a great walking holiday, The Weary has it all. Firstly, it is in a perfect location; Castle Carrock is surrounded by many possibilities for circular walks with excellent footpaths. The veiws are brilliant even with ascents as easy as 300-400 feet. We have sent Ian and Gill (the owners of the Weary) photographs and... More

A good welcome and efficient friendly staff from this family run business. Parking outside was just about adequate but there is room in the quiet road adjacent. The room was comfortable and well equipped with quality bathrom fittings. Double bed was so full of cushions it took a while to get rid of them. Maybe a bit fussy this, but... More

We spent about £60 for starters and main courses but didn't want to stay for desert after some incredibly bad service and revolting food. The trio of game was the worst offender which was chewy and very dry as if it had been kept warm in an oven for an hour. The beef olives with cheese in were not tasty... More

The Weary was the ideal stop over for us on a trip through Cumbria/Lake District. The room/bathroom were of a good standard, service was personal and friendly (we were given some useful tips on travel and the local area) and the evening meal was well prepared and good value.
