Beginning with a warm welcome from Don, our arrival "at the top of the south" couldn't have been nicer. They even stock ice for us Americans (seems we're the only nationality that loves ice) and condiments in the communal kitchen. We had a lovely view from our patio of a horse-farm complete with geese and a donkey, with mountains behind... More

Ive traveled New Zealand and stayed in a range of places, this was the most expensive by far and not worth the price. While other reviewers raved about the hospitality, my family and I found the host curt and quite in-hospitable. The rooms were nothing more then motel rooms with cheap finishes. The walls are thin and the view to... More

Interesting review from guests who arrived at 9.30am (without warning - checkin time being 2pm as advised to her ) insisting on access to their chalet immediately as the reviewer had a internet conf.call in 5mins. Fortunately we could accommodate them immediately . Yes a back bedroom faces the carpark but the remainder of the chalet - bedroom, lounge area &... More

Our time spent in Abel Tasman Marahau Lodge was tied for the best hospitality in the 14 locations we stayed in during our month long trip to New Zealand. The location was perfect for enjoying the Abel Tasman park area--walk to everything including the Aqua Taxi--which was 1 block away and perfect to start an early am trip from--no searching... More

This was the best accommodation we stayed in on a 3 week trip around New Zealand. We arrived late one evening to find our key left for us and a really useful guide with where to go to eat. We eat at the fat tui both nights, it was only a few minutes walk and amazing burgers but be prepared... More

Great location and accommodation. Spacious units, clean and comfortable. Owners very helpful and have plenty of suggestions for getting the most out of time spent in the area. We will go back again. We went walking, kayaking and used the water taxis without encountering any issues. Service provided by Abel Tasman water taxis and Kayak tour was exceptional. We ate... More

We enjoyed our stay at Marahau Lodge. Nice, clean units, everything you need available in kitchen en bathroom. It's very convenient close to Abel Tasman National Park. Kind host, gave us lots of information about things to do, even on a rainy day. Not much cellphone coverage, (really quiet) but if you want that you shouldn't book near a national... More

Perfect location for seeing the park. Don and his wife were extremely friendly and helpful. They had lots of suggestions and helped us book tours, restaurants etc last minute. The rooms are decent, but modest. Internet, continental breakfast, laundry, etc... cost extra. Enjoyed our time, but know that you are paying for the helpful service and location rather than the... I would actually advise not staying in Marahau. In an hour you can drive to or from Nelson and avoid being price gouged. There is also good , cheaper accomodation in abundance along the way. Don is a pleasant and helpful guy and the room was pleasant and comfortable. the lodge is set back from the road so it is... More

We truly enjoyed our stay at the Marahau Lodge. Our two bedroom chalet was roomy, and nicely appointed (I especially appreciated the fluffy towels and nice toiletries provided). The back deck gave a nice view of the pasture across the way, with horses and native birds. Don was very helpful and friendly. He recommended kayak and water taxi trips for... More

Marahau Lodge is located on the edge of the Abel Tasman National Park in a prime position.
