We have just returned from 3 mights at the Happy Jackal and can highly recommend this B&B. We stayed in several B&B's whilst in South Africa and this was by far the best. It's quaint and cozy in the perfect location on the river, with perfect hosts. The house was quiet, beautifully decorated and had lots of character. Our hosts... More

We stayed in the Happy Jackal Guest House on 21st March 2013. Location: Ideal for Addo Elephant Park, but not a lot else, there is only one pub close by where you can get meals. For us it was only a stopover on our way to Grahamstown, so it being close to the N2 was good. Room: Large, African style... More

Near by N2 makes it easy to reach place but you hear a bit of traffic. Otherwise quiet, remote area.Local pub nearby serves great steaks... More

Our hosts, Peter and Liz, evidently like their job and are good at it. Our room on the ground floor was excellent with an extensive lawn populated by tortoises and birds leading down to the Sunday's river. The best features are the breakfast and the public room with a well-stocked and interesting library, though it's hard to avoid the rather... More

We stayed here for two nights. The room was very big and had a nice view of the river. We have seen many birds and nice sunsets. The bathroom was a bit old and the shower as well. But everything else was perfect. Breakfast was fantastic with homemade bread and guava jam. Very friendly owners. Addo is really close and... More

If you're in or near the area and are looking for quality, peace and quiet, this is the place to stay. Views from the rooms are absolutely lovely (located on the Sundays River) and the rooms are top notch. It's also the perfect location if you're going to visit Addo Elephant park. Breakfast is great. We make a point of... More

We stayed at the Happy Jackal for two nights as our first stop on our way to Capetown. The guesthouse was charming and our room and bathroom were impeccably clean and spacious. The bedroom (Room 5) was on the first floor, had high thatched roof ceilings, a balcony and a very comfortable bed. Breakfast was fantastic - the freshly baked... More

My wife & I stayed here for 1 night in October. The location is ideal being only a few kilometres from the southern entrance of Addo Elephant Park. Our room was on the ground floor floor with a patio that looked out over the river. The room decor was a little dated but more than adequate and very clean. What... More
