We stayed here for 3 nights with a tour operator. This hotel has clearly been chosen as simply a base for tour groups visiting Florence, Siena, Assisi etc. We never had the opportunity to go into the town as we were out all day on tour, this didn't particularly bother me as there didn't seem much to do. This hotel... More

As a base for a tour, the hotel is geographically well located. Our tour took us to Siena, Florence and Assisi, which meant that time in the evening for other things was limited. The town is a spa centre with little else but you don't go there for the town. In fact, if you arrive sufficiently early on the first... More

What a disaster!Cracks in 2 walls, the shower screen nearly fell into the bath and when folded back it did! The shower was pathetic and sprayed water all over the bathroom and only a little on the human body! The room should be shut and totally refurbished. The food was good and the staff were helpful, particularly in the restaurant. Our... More

Stayed with Riviera Travel. Bedroom was fine - apart from the beds being rather narrow. The bathroom was in severe need of updating. E.g.The shower fastening was broken. There was quite a bit of traffic noise and loud music outside at night. Restaurant staff were very pleasant but the service was incredibly slow. Breakfast was fine. As far as dinner went... More

Just returned from trip with riviera travel. I agree with last review the hotel is just a base and to put your head down after a long day touring Italy. The meals were typical Italian and very good. The staff couldn't do enough for us. I think people who moan about this hotel should stick to there all inclusive package... More

A throw back to the 1970's. Tired, dirty and smelly. Our first room overlooked a garden rubbish tip. Underneath the window was the kitchen extractor chimney. The second room had a better view overlooking a derelict building! The antiquated shower cubicle had pubic hairs from the previous occupant. The pillows were filthy and heavily stained with what must have been... More

Like most other reviewers we also went with Riviera travel as the first part of a two city tour. Like most other reviewers, and most of our fellow travellers, we were disappointed with the hotel. Optimistically described by the rep as having "character", it is actually severely below par for a claimed 4 star. The entrance and lobby is a... More

Hotel needs a refurb but for a tour hotel the standard was acceptable. Food was fine if you picked wisely. Comfortable bed and clean rooms, shower needed a refit but always plenty of hot water. Rooms are noisy because of tile floors so you can hear chairs being moved overhead and the walls seem pretty thin. A few minor irritations... More

Just returned from a holiday with Riviera Travel and stayed for 3 nights at this hotel. Could not fault the cleanliness of the room, the food or the friendly, accommodating staff. A very pleasant stay indeed - much better than the one we moved on to in Rome! Location is handy for touring, but nothing much in Chianciano. More
