I didn't like this holiday much. I know it's horses for courses so this review is for people like me who somehow failed to appreciate the size of this hotel when they booked it. My own fault. I couldn't comment on the entertainment as I didn't know there was an actual stadium until day 4 and the one time I lay on a sunbed by the pool I managed half an hour before the aqua-aerobics girl set up and began to bellow so I ran away. The good. Firstly, the grounds are extensive, fabulous and immaculately kept. I had a premium room overlooking the trees and facing the sea. The view was lovely. The room itself was furnished like a business hotel, not a holiday hotel - eg very plain, no mirror in the bedroom - but that was fine. I could hear pretty much everything happening in the bathrooms to either side but that's not unusual. The bedroom was mainly quiet with most of the noise coming from outside. My room was positioned halfway between the pool (and I seriously did listen to kids screaming all afternoon) and the bar where outdoor evening entertainment thankfully ended before midnight. But I was comfortable. The bed was interesting with a mattress that had the same hard foam feel as the sofabed but I slept okay. The bathroom was tired but everything worked (except the showerhead which was partially blocked) and the linen was clean and refreshed regularly. The housekeeping staff were pleasant. The bad It's true what other reviewers have said about the staff in public areas. Surly doesn't come close. In the restaurant we felt a bit scared to ask the servers for anything. If you want a second scoop of pasta you have an Oliver moment. On the odd occasion where I actually interacted with restaurant staff for over a minute they did warm up and were as jovial as anyone you'd meet anywhere, but that's not the general atmosphere. And the front desk - forget it. I'd have to be really pushed to bother them. The ugly. The restaurant seats several hundred people which of course it needs to given the 637 hotel rooms. It's a brightly lit, characterless, noisy canteen. When it's a third full the cacophony is unbelievable. My room was on the third floor above it and I could hear the din from up there. Personally I found the food same-y and boring and, for the most part, tasteless. It's not easy to cater for hundreds of people at each meal (although cruise ships manage it) so I think this hotel's answer was to keep it bland. Dry, bland, sauceless. Breakfasts were sparse and the same every day. The usual cold fare plus eggs (which I'm pretty sure are made from powdered egg because you can slice into the grey lumps) and oily bacon. Hot breakfasts means tepid; I didn't have a hot meal all week. ALL the hot food is luke warm and served onto cold plates so by the time you navigate your way through people walking in all directions and reach your table it's cold. Coffee is from machines. You know the kind of thing. A decent cup of coffee is impossible in these circumstances. Getting out and about. The bus stop I erroneously believed was 'outside' or 'around the corner' is a good 15-20 minute walk away. The front desk will tell you to ask for times at the kiosk so you walk there at 10am to hear that the next Godfather hop on hop off (green) bus leaves at 3.20pm, but whatever. The schedule was getting a bit random by October but I dare say works perfectly during the season. Taormina's nice (packed) and only a 25 minute bus ride away. (Bus seats aren't wide; breathe carefully and keep elbows tucked in). The railway station in Giardini Naxos is a long walk - Google informed me it was 4.5 miles round trip (after I'd done it) so you can take the bus. After that it's a 2 hour train ride to Siracusa. My advice. Hire a car. Best kept secret. Giardini Naxos archeological park. It's accessible from the little harbour and only €4 and it's great!

Just left the hotel. Stayed there for 4 nights on B&B basis, with 2 other friends. We shared a room in a superior apartment. Really nice and comfortable, with hot showers. It had very large double bed and 1 single bed. They have beautiful gardens and quick direct access to the beach. Self service Breakfast had a wide and very good choice. Hotel is very clean and spacious and calm, situated about 20minutes from Taormina with a shuttle service from the hotel, €3 single and €5 return. The staff were super friendly and very helpful, a special thank you to Davide at reception 😊 and the 2 men (sorry forgot their name) at the main bar. I would highly recommend this place, for families and couples. Wi-Fi in the room was not the best, but near reception and gardens it was good. Thank you to all of you. Sylvie

The hotel is set in beautiful grounds . The rooms are small and don’t have enough storage space . The internet was good . The worst thing was the food or lack of . One night there was chicken curry and it was gone in a few minutes and I was told it’s finished . You have to ask for more than 1 slices of meat . The salad is the same every day and boring . The deserts are good . There is a bad atmosphere in the restaurant as the staff are really unfriendly. They don’t make any eye contact and are rushing to get set up for the next service . If you come into breakfast or dinner 30 mins before the end of service you are lucky to get a table as they are setting up for the next service . All staff were moody and unhelpful. The cafe where you can get lunch is awful full of smokers and terrible food choices served Luke warm. The pool area was well set up but you have to pay for pool towels and sun beds . The beach is stony and it’s hard to get in and out of the water . The only good thing was the etna wine .

Stayed at this hotel for 2 nights while visiting my daughter during her study abroad semester. The room was nice and modern as was the bathroom, and the queen size bed was very comfortable. Really great water pressure and plenty of hot water. Nice amenities in the room. The staff with whom I had contact were friendly, professional, and pleasant. Rooftop bar/breakfast were very nice. My main takeaway from this hotel was the overwhelming fragrance in the lobby. To me is smelled like cheap cologne and gave me a headache. I tried to hold my breath every time I walked through the lobby. I am somewhat sensitive to perfume and cologne, although not overly so, but this was so overwhelming that I wouldn't stay here again because of it.

We travelled to Sicily in September and stayed at Unahotel for eleven nights, as all inclusive guests. We had a room in the main building on the second floor, and our view faced the tennis courts and road. The room was modern, clean and very well stocked with toiletries, hairdryer, fridge and mini bar. The housekeeping staff gave extras , such as additional hangers, an extension lead, toiletries and replenished the tea and coffee items as required. Towels were changed daily and the staff kept our room spotless and were very kind and helpful. Lots of wardrobe space, and sockets in the room, and the bed was super comfy. As all inclusive, we had many meals at the hotel and the food was fresh, authentic Italian food, as well as local dishes to the region. I loved that the food offered was Italian and not an attempt to offer food like chips, etc. Wide range of choices, both meat, vegetarian, fish and vegan. I am not someone that eats meat often , and found a three course meal for lunch and dinner every day that I ate there. I stayed there 11 days and had the chance to eat 11 different pasta dishes in that time, there was no repetition. Lots of protein options, such as steak, pork, lamb, and Italian sausage ( salsiccia) and a vast range of vegetable dishes, salad. On offer there was swordfish, Salmon, Tuna and Mussels, as well as octupus, smoked salmon and sardines. Desserts were lovely, with a station full of option and everything labelled in terms of allergies. Staff in the restaurant were exceptional and having read the comments that there is bias towards Italians, I would disagree. Nunzio the manager we chatted to every day was such a lovely helpful and kind person, who always found us a table, asked if we were okay; needed anything; and was interested in our stay and keen to help. All of the waiting staff were lovely and kind, but I cannot remember every name, there was a lady who was originally from the USA that had returned to Sicily and another young lady with dark hair and the brightest smile, who really went the extra mile for us, whenever they served us. The chefs were all helpful and Sofia , one of the servers was great fun, and happy to help. The hotel grounds were kept clean and well tended. The pools spotless, and every day we would see the floors housed down, the floor cleaner in operation and the sunbeds washed down and all litter removed. The pool was regularly checked by the lifeguards and cleaned during the day. There was no shortage of beds by the pools or on the beach. The entertainment team were great fun, and Guilia in particular really engaging with the guests. The pool bar/sports bar staff really made our holiday. Salv C and Rita Maria are the real jewels in the crown at the hotel. We spent evenings in the bar, but also used the bar when by the pool, or were having snacks rather than lunch and they could not have been kinder or more helpful. We booked excursions from the concierge team, who didn't push us into any excursions, but gave honest views and listened to what we wanted from our holiday. My husband had an accident last year and isn't as active due to injury, and they really helped us with picking the right trips for his injuries. This is where you also get your beach towels and every day, they asked how our day was and gave us suggestions. We did the boat trip with the hotel through the local company they used and had a great two hour cruise to Isola Bella, as well as a couple of other trips. The beach is shingle and I would recommend swimming shoes on the beach by the hotel. Beach bar and the lounge bar are all staffed with lovely people. We did encounter one female bar staff who was a little dismissive, but I think this was because she spoke Italian/German and not English ( although we speak Italian-she perhaps didn't know) Market is on Saturday, just outside the hotel. Local bus and courtesy bus are really affordable -although I wouldn't recommend the hop on , hop off bus, as they are simply not organised. There are lots of local shops, restaurants and bars in Giardini Naxos and within walking distance of the hotel. It's worth getting out and enjoying the local area. All in all, a really good holiday , great staff, good hotel and very well organised. We go to Sicily every year but have already booked to go back to this hotel next June.

I can't fault this hotel at all . I've spent a week here with my sister who has travelled alot in Sicily and I was not disappointed! The food is outstanding, as a non meat eater there was so much choice for me which I have struggled with in other regions of Italy . The staff are friendly and helpful and the rooms clean and comfortable , beds are made and clean towels provided every day. They really have thought of everything here including the hire of beach towels for just two euros for the whole of your stay . I would definitely recommend this hotel and have already looked at where other hotels in this chain are located .

I read several negative reviews of this hotel before I arrived and after a week staying here I feel like they must have been to a different hotel! The rooms are clean and freshly updated. Everything works perfectly. There are plenty of facilities. The dining room is extremely well managed by the charming Nunzio. The food is delicious, plentiful and varied. I can only think the critics wanted roast dinners, burgers and fries. Staff are very helpful. The gardens are beautiful and have very comfortable furniture which we relaxed in often. We would definitely return.

Stayed in room 241, wrap around balcony with garden and partial sea view. Lovely and roomy and hashad a recent refurbish. The pool area is great plenty of fixed umbrellas and comfortable beds. There's no need to get your 'towels' out early, the hotel was full but getting a sunbed was never an issue. Stayed half board but the evening meals were disappointing, finding a table to eat was a constant problem, people would queue up to 30 minutes before the restaurant opened which I found very irritating, would advise breakfast only which is continental, streaky bacon, hard boiled and scrambled eggs were the norm. Staff were helpful and maintenance was swift when called upon. Good location and close access for the motorway. Hired a car for 12 days from Cars of Sicily which are located close to the hotel and would recommend them.
