We travelled to Sicily in September and stayed at Unahotel for eleven nights, as all inclusive guests. We had a room in the main building on the second floor, and our view faced the tennis courts and road. The room was modern, clean and very well stocked with toiletries, hairdryer, fridge and mini bar. The housekeeping staff gave extras , such as additional hangers, an extension lead, toiletries and replenished the tea and coffee items as required. Towels were changed daily and the staff kept our room spotless and were very kind and helpful. Lots of wardrobe space, and sockets in the room, and the bed was super comfy. As all inclusive, we had many meals at the hotel and the food was fresh, authentic Italian food, as well as local dishes to the region. I loved that the food offered was Italian and not an attempt to offer food like chips, etc. Wide range of choices, both meat, vegetarian, fish and vegan. I am not someone that eats meat often , and found a three course meal for lunch and dinner every day that I ate there. I stayed there 11 days and had the chance to eat 11 different pasta dishes in that time, there was no repetition. Lots of protein options, such as steak, pork, lamb, and Italian sausage ( salsiccia) and a vast range of vegetable dishes, salad. On offer there was swordfish, Salmon, Tuna and Mussels, as well as octupus, smoked salmon and sardines. Desserts were lovely, with a station full of option and everything labelled in terms of allergies. Staff in the restaurant were exceptional and having read the comments that there is bias towards Italians, I would disagree. Nunzio the manager we chatted to every day was such a lovely helpful and kind person, who always found us a table, asked if we were okay; needed anything; and was interested in our stay and keen to help. All of the waiting staff were lovely and kind, but I cannot remember every name, there was a lady who was originally from the USA that had returned to Sicily and another young lady with dark hair and the brightest smile, who really went the extra mile for us, whenever they served us. The chefs were all helpful and Sofia , one of the servers was great fun, and happy to help. The hotel grounds were kept clean and well tended. The pools spotless, and every day we would see the floors housed down, the floor cleaner in operation and the sunbeds washed down and all litter removed. The pool was regularly checked by the lifeguards and cleaned during the day. There was no shortage of beds by the pools or on the beach. The entertainment team were great fun, and Guilia in particular really engaging with the guests. The pool bar/sports bar staff really made our holiday. Salv C and Rita Maria are the real jewels in the crown at the hotel. We spent evenings in the bar, but also used the bar when by the pool, or were having snacks rather than lunch and they could not have been kinder or more helpful. We booked excursions from the concierge team, who didn't push us into any excursions, but gave honest views and listened to what we wanted from our holiday. My husband had an accident last year and isn't as active due to injury, and they really helped us with picking the right trips for his injuries. This is where you also get your beach towels and every day, they asked how our day was and gave us suggestions. We did the boat trip with the hotel through the local company they used and had a great two hour cruise to Isola Bella, as well as a couple of other trips. The beach is shingle and I would recommend swimming shoes on the beach by the hotel. Beach bar and the lounge bar are all staffed with lovely people. We did encounter one female bar staff who was a little dismissive, but I think this was because she spoke Italian/German and not English ( although we speak Italian-she perhaps didn't know) Market is on Saturday, just outside the hotel. Local bus and courtesy bus are really affordable -although I wouldn't recommend the hop on , hop off bus, as they are simply not organised. There are lots of local shops, restaurants and bars in Giardini Naxos and within walking distance of the hotel. It's worth getting out and enjoying the local area. All in all, a really good holiday , great staff, good hotel and very well organised. We go to Sicily every year but have already booked to go back to this hotel next June. …
