I have no idea how I found this place but I did and my boyfriend and I booked it for December 2010. Sadly traveling from LA we had a layover in London and got snowed in for 4 days and missed our trip to stay at Locanda Palazzone. This year we rescheduled the trip and avoided the UK all together.... Stopped for just one night but I wish I had stayed longer. Beautiful modern decor in an old Palazzo. Great views of the mountains. The owner went out of his way to pick us up when our car broke down in the road a few miles away from the hotel. Very intimate hotel with few rooms, makes your stay very... More

Ludovicio and Silvia are impeccable guests - genuinely warm, engaging, discreet they were also wonderfully kind and patient with our baby daughter. The renovation is immaculate showcasing real aesthetic ambition in both interior detail and architectural form. To complete the experience the wines are splendid and the views are breathtaking. More

Dear Dabize, Thank you so very much for your review of our Locanda. It gives us great satisfaction to welcome guests who connect with the style and spirit in which the house was restored. We are most pleased that you enjoyed the Locanda's "grandeur" (we love the word!) and also the Palazzone wine. We do hope to welcome you again... More

Three of us stayed in the family apartment here which is spacious and very comfortable. The building itself is amazingly restored and the big lounge with a fire going and free wireless has been great to use for talking the nihht away with a glass of wine. Breakfast is served downstairs - delicious, simple, great (proper) coffee. We had dinner... More

My husband and I stayed 2 nights this October on our way from Rome to Montalcino---we were flying in from overseas and wanted a stopping place relatively nearby Rome (Locanda is about 1-1/2 hours from Rome right near the A1). The villa has a wonderful reception room with high beamed ceilings and a relatively small number of rooms, including rooms... More

A man of impeccable taste and vision, Lodovico has brilliantly restored this 13th c. mansion, surrounded by vineyards, overlooking Orvieto. The addition of modern conveniences, including a beautiful pool, an inspired staircase and an elevator, are extremely well done and the attention to details for the guest experience is impressive. Lodovico warmly welcome us to his "home", and we enjoyed... More

Without a doubt Locanda Palazzone was the highlight of our very recent Tuscan/Umbrian holiday. Its perfect hillside setting, contemporary design, chic rooms with attention to designer details, award winning wines and most of all Lodovico and his wonderful team. We loved the closeness to Orvieto (10 min by car), the peaceful setting with the perfect pool (the largest I have... More

Locanda Palazzone is situated atop a hill in a wonderful vineyard. The views of the surrounding scenery are breathtaking, serene and include a fantastic view of nearby Orvieto which is great to drive to for some sightseeing, dinner and a glass of wine in the evening. That is if you can tear yourself away from the peaceful gardens and terrace... More

Beautyful location, even if several nicer alternatives can be found in the Umbria and Tuscany countryside. Hospitality and courtecy are concepts to be developed there since the owner probably does not know them very well. Firstly when we reserved the room we agreed to have the lunch during all the period of stay (since we have a 15 months child)... More

I believe the critic would have been better understood, even by english speaking readers, if written in the guest’s mother tongue, which is italian. I am however relieved that the only my ‘nasty’ attitude is object of this comment and not the Locanda Palazzone itself. It would be tedious to go into one’s own shortcomings at length. Of the 9...
