The hotel overlooks the valley and it has a view to die for. It is said that on a fine day you can see as far the island of Corsica. I can well believe it. The views are stunning. However, be aware your own transport is essential when staying here. The hotel is very close to the town centre BUT... More

Stayed 4nights in April, asked for a "high floor with a nice view" and got one; only some rooms face the beautiful Tuscan vale. Walk/climb to the town is steep but short and well worth it. The hotel will provide a minibus shuttle if you ask apparently. Rooms are clean and spacious.

We stayed here Thanksgiving week for 3 days as a base for day trips to Siena, San Gimignano, Pisa after spending time in Florence earlier. Volterra itself is charming and real, not nearly as touristy as Siena and San Gimgnano. It is a 10 minute steep uphill walk into town which was not a problem at all for our group... More

We stayed here as part of a tour group. From the better rooms the views across the pool and the Tuscan countryside are fabulous, if like us, you looked over the car park it was less so. We found the hotel quite noisy due to the hard tiled floors and lack of soft furnishings, the room was fine except for... More

Nice room, if a bit bare. No bath, just a shower. Comfortable bed. but the food in the restaurant wasnt very nice, I couldnt believe my risotto - I thought Italian food was gorgeous, but this tasted like it was out of a pack, microwaved.....maybe its just me.

As luck would have it, we were given a room overlooking an unkempt yard. However the view from the Terrace was incredible: Commanding vista of an outdoor swimming pool, the valley and the Tuscan Hills beyond. The Hall, the dinning room / food / service and other amenities were excellent. Volterra, a medieval town, was only ten minutes walk up... More

Great hotel, good location good room’s, food excellent and staff were first rate. The only criticism we had was that the rooms needed to be better sound proofed and quite often we could hear the TV and conversations in the adjoining rooms. The tiled floors and corridors amplified the sound. On one night entertainment was put on, a man with... More

Having read some of the negative responses, and as we had highly recommended the hotel to our friends, who were travelling with us, we were apprehensive as to whether it had really changed since our visit 6 years ago. However, we were not disappointed. We telephoned the hotel to make our own bookings and having been there before, we specifically... More

Stayed here for 2 nights on A cycling holiday in Tuscany. We had upgraded to a suite which was really only a big room - no full length mirror, no robes, shame the balcony faced the side and back of the hotel and was not very wide. The food was good and service at dinner good. Breakfast was good with... More

Stayed here as part of a package, touring Italy. If you feel like walking into Volterra (well worth a visit) then be prepared for a 10/15 minute drag uphill. However there is a bus for 1euro. Our room was overlooking the carpark so ask for a room looking over the pool and the lovely views. The bedroom was spacious and... More
