Super location in Sarlat with very friendly and helpful hosts. Exceptional breakfast at extra cost. Parking offsite but convenient. Difficult to find but worth the search Very congenial atmosphere to interact with other guest from all over the world. You'll wear out your camera taking pictures because Sarlat is a well preserved treasure.

The Bowens were wonderful hosts. Our room was comfortable and clean and had a great outlook. Breakfasts were very good, presented professionally and with that special touch--lots of attention to detail, especially for those of us who like a good pot of tea. Our hosts also gave us lots of recommendations for our day trips and they were always there... More

It's hard to add much of substance to the superlatives written by other reviewers - they are right! Sarlat and environs proved to be as great an experience as Rick Steves' guide told us, including the recommendation of La Lanterne. We thoroughly enjoyed our interactions with the Bowens, our hosts. Best way to visit Sarlat and the Périgord Noir region is definitely to book one of the very charming rooms at the Lanterne and to enjoy an apéritif in the company of the Bowens :-) We had a wonderful time!

The innkeepers at La Lanterne (Roy and Terri Bowen) are wonderful and did their best to make our stay very pleasant. As we were warned in advance, driving to La Lanterne can be a bit of an adventure, because it's on a tiny street in the medieval, inner city. Like many hill towns in Italy, at one point two building... More

The Bowens were the most welcoming hosts we had on our tour of France in May 2013. The location was perfect-- a minute from the main square in Sarlat-- and our room was perfect. We loved that there were common areas to spend time in. We felt like we got to know The Bowens and the other guests at the... More

Our stay at La Lanterne was a wonderful experience. From the moment we arrived Terri and Roy welcomed us right away. Our room was upstairs with a comfy king size bed and a beautiful view of the tower. Our towels were changed every day and the room and bathroom were very clean. Best shower so far since we have been... More

A beautiful B&B in a beautiful town. The hosts made us feel at home and were very helpful in every way possible. It was unusually cold and rainy during our visit and it was wonderful to have such a cozy place to come "home" to. A convenient location in town. Don't hesitate to book a room here.

This was Indeed the quintessential Bed & Breakfast experience in a charming French town. The hospitality was wonderful from the moment we arrived until we departed. The family teamwork was very evident. Thanks to Richard we were able to make our 6AM departure train. If you want an extremely comfortable bed, clean shower and great coffee then add this to... More

A beautiful B&B in an amazing town! Very picturesque and we felt very much part of the town straight away. Roy and Terry have done a great job with the building, and we much appreciated all the help from Richard (breakfast artwork!). Our room was very well-equipped and our hosts couldn't do enough for us to make everything comfortable. Roy's... More
