The hotel configuration was in the style of the original Ticos and was certainly unique. All cabins were circular with a thatched roof and 9 rooms. The rooms were very basic - no TV, radio, A/C but the beautiful sights and sounds of the rainforest more than made up for this. The staff was very, very helpful and the food... More

We were on a small group tour,Easter week, staying in lodges. It seemed like this place is popular on that circuit of travelers. Hang out in the pool, check out lizards and birds. Walk through the botanical gardens on the grounds-plants are labeled-but they can't label the wildlife. We slept with just the screen door shut and now that I'm home I... More

We were on a tour, and this was there choice. It was a good one. The room was large, comfortable and clean. The 6 unit huts are unique. Each unit has a private patio. The front desk had little bats on the high ceiling, a neat picture! This hotel is next to the Tirimbina Biological Reserve, where bats are studied.... More

We loved this indigenous-styled lodge with its roundels and thatch set in beautiful grounds. The room was spotlessly clean and the bed extremely comfortable and we loved the clothes hangers!! The bird life was wonderful with so many species to see. All the staff were delightful and welcoming and made our stay a great experience. The food was excellent. A... More

We stayed at the Sarapiquis Rainforest Lodge for two nights with a tour group. Great location in the rainforest, good restaurant, spartan rooms. However, the pillows smelled of perspiration and the mattress pad was damp. They need to buy new pillows and launder the mattress pads after each guest.

We stopped here one night as part of a tour of Costa Rica. There are optional tours from here and we took the chocolate tour, which included a walk over a long suspension bridge over the river. The buildings are traditionally made with high thatched roofs. There is no air-conditioning, but the rooms were cooled by a large fan. There... More

Absolutely loved this place! You feel as if you are right in the middle of the rainforest. The rooms are in traditional thatched roundels and are very large - all with doors opening onto a deck so you can sit outside and watch the wildlife. The rooms have basic amenities but do not have TV/telephone/wi Fi (but why would you... More

Absolutely loved my stay here!! The rooms were huge and sparse with a safe deposit box being the only amenity, but everything was clean and in working order and the beds were comfortable. Staff were all friendly and eager to please. The grounds were amazing and tranquil. Fall asleep to the sound of frogs and rain and wake up to... More

We stayed at the Sarapiquis Rainforest Lodge while on a Costa Rican tour in June. The buildings were modeled after round indigenous dwellings with high thatched roofs. Although not fancy, the rooms were spacious and very clean. The grounds and pool were beautiful. The food had considerable variety and healthy choices. There were many beautiful birds and frogs on the... More

Excellent hotel in Sarapiqui, feels like you are staying deep in the rainforest when actually it's a very accessible 2 hours on a good road from San Jose. The pool is amazing, it is tastefully designed and seems like it's part of the natural landscape. You can spend time in the pool whilst watch the tanagers, toucans and hummingbirds in... More

SarapiquiS Rainforest Lodge, built as a 15th century Pre-Columbian village, is – due to its outstanding concept in ecotourism and cultural indigenous conservation – an international rewarded model in tourism. The uniqueness of this project was officially recognized by the nomination of “Proyecto de Interés Público”, on October 17th, 1997, by the Costa Rican Government. SarapiquíS Rainforest Lodge is designed and developed as an eco-model project using ecological sustainable technologies (solar energy, use of local natural materials, an innovative wetland waste-water treatment installation, ionized cleaning system of the pool, etc…). We proudly have three levels at the Certification of Sustainable Tourism, an official certification given by the Costa Rican Tourism Institute (ICT)The ecolodge consists of six Palenque structures; four guests units, one guest unit and Museum and one central building with the lobby, two restaurants, bar, coffee gourmet bar, photo gallery, administration, and gift shop. Like an inverted flower, the five units are divided into eight spacious, deluxe rooms, jointed within the turret reaching an impressive height of 18 meters. All the units are located midst the lush gardens and orchards of the property. Many of the rooms have an outstanding view of the rainforest canopy; while others are nestled in the bright and fragrant gardens. With a harmonious decor of earth tones, natural lime stone, and antique or artisan made furniture, guests will enjoy the comfortable beds, private bath, ceiling fans, safe deposit boxes. Outside every room, a covered terrace invites each guest to enjoy the natural surroundings. ... more   less
