I stayed in room 42 which had a queen bed and a single bed in it. The ensuite had an over the bath shower which incidentally was a spa bath and delivered plenty of hot water with good pressure. The air con was set at a pleasant 21 degrees Celsius when I arrived which I found to be a good... More

I certainly won"t be staying again, have stayed at far better on Northbourne for much less. I certainly didn"t enjoy a cold shower on a frosty morning. I needed somewhere close to John James Hospital but in future will stick with what I know and pay for a cab. Continental breakfast in the dining area was very ordinary and well... More

Nice affordable motel that is clean and cozy though not quite statesman. Rooms are of a good size and has great surroundings and close driving distance to shops and dining areas. One problem with this motel is that the heating was really loud and if you're a light sleeper like me, it would be hard to sleep. More

We stayed 1 night in a family room, 2 adults with 3 children. The room was not cosy. Everything seemed a bit run down. Especially the shower needs repainting. We didn't feel very comfortable but for just one night it was okay. There were two TVs in the room which was great. The kitchenette had everything you need but was... More

Visiting Canberra on business, I chose The Statesman, and I'm glad I did. Although rooms have been refurbished, the overall look and feel of the place is solidly 1960-1970s with a great charm of it's own, particularly in the bar/dining area. Staff were super warm and welcoming - real people who were bright and sociable. My only criticism: the hotel... More

Having driven all night, the hotel was able to find me a room during the day at a modest price. and ample parking for the minibus. Peaceful rest was enjoyed in a comfortable double bed. Tv mounted on the wall was convenient. A hot shower and a cup of coffee to revive ensured a safe drive home. Staff are friendly... More

We stayed three nights and although very basic as far a hotel rooms go, our stay at The Statesman was enjoyable - the room was quite, clean and pleasant and everything was in working order. The bed (King size) was super comfortable. Breakfast at The Statesman was in the small dining room, reasonably priced, but if looking for more to... More

Upon arrival, we waited for 10 minutes to be checked in - no one in sight, not even when we rang the bell. Turns out the woman who was chatting out the front to some friends was the Receptionist. She had seen us come in with our bags in the carpark but did not come in to check us in... More

Not the scariest place i've stayed in but not comfortable and not all that inexpensive, considering condition of motel. Old but not historic place (1950s or 60s), in desperate need of facelift, new carpet, etc. Room was COLD and heating system was strange. Bathroom layout was strange also. Quiet except for a.m. birds, wh. we found exotic coming from U.S.---actually... More
