Rolf and Andreas were such gentlemen throughout our stay. The food wasexceptional not only at breakfast but also the evening meals too. The outdoor shower with lovely views was something special. The option for air conditioning also quite helpful. We would highly recommend it anyone. Thanks Beth and Dan More

We’ve just arrived from our trip to Costa Rica. We stayed at Luna Azul for 2 nights with our baby boy (20 months). The site is beautiful, rooms are well decorated and the breakfast that is complimentary was more than expected. However, I would not recommend it for 3 reasons: 1 – The price is a little high. Furthermore, during... More

Dear guest, Thank you for visiting our hotel. We have absolutely no problem with children, families are always welcome. With pleasure we had put a nice crib for your baby into the room, free of any charge. But kids can become a problem when other guests start complaining about them, which was definitely the case during your visit. Two of... More

I can only add to the many previous reviewers that this is one of the best places in the world to relax. It has class and comfort. It has excellent food supervised by Rolf. He even produced a couple of very good boiled eggs, something I can't seem to do myself. Every evening the dinner menu offered 5 or 6... More

We stayed 3 nights at this hotel with a young daughter. The room are very clean and well appointed with an outdoor shower and a deck to sit with rocking chairs to enjoy sound of nature and bird watching. The swimming pool was a good size and pretty. The owners, Rolf and Andreas, are meticulous and informative. During our stay,... More

We had the pleasure to stay 2 nights in this little piece of heaven, Hotel Luna Azul in Ostional. Unfortunately we had to continue our trip but we very much would have loved to prolong our stay! Rolf and Andreas, the 2 Swiss owners, are excellent hosts and we enjoyed delicious first class dinners and fresh and rich breakfasts. The... More

We stayed four nights at this small hotel. We had a great time. The location is quiet, with great ocean views. The rooms are practically appointed. and very clean. The food was delicious. The owners are very caring, meticulous hosts. Our kids enjoyed the company of Mono - a playful dog. There is lots to do in the area -... More

I researched hotels in this area for weeks before finding this deservedly well reviewed haven. We absolutely loved our relaxing stay at Hotel Luna Azul. Our bungalow did face the jungle, rather than the beach (5/7 face the jungle), but it was very peaceful and quiet. The outdoor bathroom was new to us, but we found it refreshing to shower... More

My family (My husband, 5-yr old son and I) spent 4 splendid days at Luna Azul. Staying at this hotel is like being invited by your favorite uncle to spend time at his remote beautiful place. You feel privileged and grateful. Highs: - Kind and delightful owners, Rolf, Andreas and Mono (Black Lab). You feel welcomed. - Superb service personally... More

I have to admit, by the time we arrived to Luna Azul, I was second guessing our choice. The last 20 miles of the drive from SJO airport was some of the more rugged roads we I had ever driven on during my many travels in the country. But the mild headache literally melted away within minutes of sinking into... More
