Read the reviews but always take these with a pinch of salt, thought overall it would suit us for a one night stay. The clincher was the spa as my wife and I were having a walking break in and around the peak district, what better way of finishing off the day and indeed starting the day. However that was... More

Thank you for your review of your recent stay here at the Chesterfield Hotel. I am deeply sorry that your stay with us was not as it should have been. The Peak Leisure Club was subject to an emergency closure by the management company which runs it, starting a few days prior to your arrival. This closure was not communicated... More

I thought Id give a 3/5 star place a try... it has a gym and pool...so it cant be that bad surely??? Oh yes it can! The lift was well dodgy and I feared whether it would stop as I ascended to my room. I was given a family room which was massive so if space is what you are... More

Thank you for your review following your recent stay with us. I am sorry that you did not find your room up to standard. I believe you were allocated one of the rooms which is currently awaiting refurbishment. We are working our way around, so the television, carpet and furniture will soon all be replaced. We would have mended or... More

We stayed in rooms at the back of the hotel was really not much more noise than any other city centre location - staff were friendly and our rooms were great ! - after reading the other reveiws on here I thought we would be in for a rough night !! but we stayed with our 2 children they had... More

Thank you for your lovely review following your stay with us. I am delighted you found your family room so convenient. We prefer to offer families adjoining rooms rather than cram everyone into one room. It means both the adults and the children get some privacy, but the adults can still keep an eye on what the kids are up... More

This is one of the best value for money hotels I have stayed in. All the staff were very helpful and approachable whilst being professional at the same time. My room was clean, comfortable and quiet. I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to anyone staying in the area. More

Stayed for two nights last weekend. It is an awful place. The Leisure Centre (use that term loosely) was supposed to have a swimming pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi. The jacuzzi, and steam room were out of order. A local whom I met said they had been like that for 3 months. The mens showers ( 4 showers 2... More

I am sorry that you did not enjoy your stay. Unfortunately last weekend we did have to close both the Jacuzzi and the steam room. This was due to serious maintenance issues which posed a danger to guests. The “local” you met who claimed they had been off for 3 months was incorrect. Fortunately the swimming pool, sauna, gymnasium and... More

Booked into this hotel last minute before a climbing competition - saved a lot on the room price, beautiful building, VERY comfortable beds, bathroom was absolutely perfect. The view wasn't even that bad either. Perfect for a quick stay, but would be good for a little longer too. Useful to have free parking as well. More

This hotel is one of the worse I have ever stopped in.My first rooms shower was cold only and the bath taps did not work. The hotel changed my room but again the shower was only Luke warm but the bath did work. When I checked out and complained it was dismissed and they even charged me for my breakfast.... More

Please accept my sincere apologies for the problems you experienced in the room you were initially assigned. The hot water was not working due to air in the pipes, which our maintenance team has now dealt with. On reporting the problem to Reception, you were immediately assigned another room. The Duty Manager came up to the new room with you... More

This was, obviously, once a a top class hotel & it retains a certain charm of a by-gone age. The hotel is seriously requiring a refit but all the rooms are clean. My partner & i had a double room on the second floor mid-week, booked through Booking.com. The room was clean, the sheets were freshly laundered, the bed was... More

Thank you for your kind comments following your recent stay here at the Chesterfield Hotel. I am delighted that you enjoyed your stay and thank you for your recommendation. Dear Mr Passant, Thank you for your fantastic review of the Chesterfield Hotel! I would always tell people to come and stay at the Chesterfield, but to have a guest say so on Trip Advisor is worth 100 times as much. (People might think I was biased, which of course I am!) I look forward to your return to Chesterfield... More

The hotel is situated opposite the railway station and along side a very busy road. Once inside though there was no noise at all. A bridge over the busy road leads to the town centre, about 5/10 mins walk. The reception staff were really friendly and nothing was too much trouble, so were the cleaners and the restaurant staff -... More
