My family of 8 arrived unannounced and were found seating immediately without fuss. When the food arrived I could not believe the quality. Guinness pie came with a small glass of Guinness the chilli came in a tortilla basket all the salads had been created with interest and variety in mind I could go on. These meals were produced by... Having stayed at this pub before we had looked forward to returning and experiencing the fab food again. Booked in for bed breakfast and an evening meal. We arrived earlier that expected and our room was not ready but we were offered tea, coffee, or drinks while we waited. Graham the proprietor was apologetic and very pleasant. After been shown... Sue T - as Jon Bon Jovi might say...... (you want to) make a memory - what about now, and as this ain't a love song, there's always a room at the end of the world - always at the Peacock. We will never be a lost highway, and as it's my life and I'm known as the fighter in... More

As a group of 7 ladies, we had been to nearby Haddon Hall for the day and we wanted to find a place to have a nice drink afterwards. We arrived around 5pm on a Saturday afternoon, and as we walked in, we were greeted at the door by a staff member wanting to know what we were coming in... More

A very strange post in the sense that we asked a very simple question as a greeting gesture - not as is originally implied... "What the hell are you coming for?" The member of staff who greeted NottinghamLisa and her six companions was simply enquiring, so as she could ascertain where to seat the so called "Magnificent Seven" The Peacock... More

I sent an email asking if the had any winter deals. The reply I got was 4 nights for the price of 3 midweek. I then sent an email asking would it be £100 a night if we staid over the weekend, the reply was 100/100/80/70. How was I meant to make sense of this it was like he couldn't... More

Absolutely unbelievable that some person I have never even met, and has never ever been to the Peacock is allowed to post a review on Trip Advisor that is simply fictitious in a very edited version in a very prejudice sense. The lady jessica76 sent me a very abrupt email asking if we had any winter offers and as a... More

Had a lovely day in Bakewell with the sun out!! heard good reviews about this pub for food and drink, so thought we would give it a try and it was excellent food and good size on our plates. Good to fill an empty hole while enjoying the area. Service was fast and friendly and would be back again at... More

Table for five at 1.30 on a Wednesday afternoon. Enjoyed the wonderful food whilst catching up with friends. Excellently cooked and presented pies and fish and chips and decent portion sizes. Highly recommended.

I had a superb pub lunch here today. The menu isn't extensive or full of complicated dishes but just traditional pub food. I had the homemade steak, guiness and mushroom pie. It was served with a small jug of delicious gravy, mushy peas, a tiny glass of guiness and the best chips I've had for a very, very long time.... More

Great central location for the town centre of Bakewell and also the Peak District. Even though in the centre of town and next to the pub, the rooms were detached and therefore quiet for a good night's sleep. Rooms very clean and well equipped. Car parking could be difficult dependent upon arrival time. Food very good.

Popped in after a walk in from Ashford mainly due to the recommendations on Trip Advisor. My first impressions weren't that good as it appeared that bar staff numbers (1) couldn’t match the stampede of customers who arrived at 12 opening on Sunday, big queue nearly made me walk out the door and I noticed others did but it was... Good Beer and a Good Sunday Lunch - on a Bank Holiday Sunday, sounds Good to me Iain4242. Have to take issue with the fact you didn't like the fact there was no bar staff on until the stampede. 12 noon - The staff were getting ready for the stampede, but were otherwise doing other minor jobs in readiness, -...
