We went here for a meal on the first evening of our holiday. I chose vegetable lasagne. It looked decidedly unappetising when it arrived and turned out to be tasteless mush of the most unlikely vegetables i had ever seen in a lasagne eg peas and swede in a sea of tomato sauce no bechemel sauce in sight. Plus salad.... More

I am sorry that you didn't enjoy your meal on Friday night. I remember that you said that you didn't like the lasagne and that it wasn't to your taste. At this point I said that I was sorry that you didn't like it and that as a gesture of good will I offered to replace your meal with an... More

5 of us stayed last weekend as a base for a walking weekend and Laura and Craig could not have made us more welcome. Rooms are comfortable, breakfasts outstanding, pub meals and beers superb. A gem of a place and we will certainly be staying again. More

We visited the Cheshire Cheese Inn in late April. While staying at the local spa resort, we decided to try a local pub for the evening rather than eat at the hotel. The pub's website looked appealling and ticked all the boxes for a typical country pub. The ales (which was one of our main reasons for visiting) were four... More

I am sorry that you did not enjoy your dining experience at the Cheshire Cheese Inn. When the beers come to the end of the barrell they are often cloudy and we are always happy to exhange them. We have the temperatures checked regularly with our cask marque inspection and they have been satisfactory. We buy our sausages from a... More

The Cheshire Cheese Inn is the perfect example of a great countryside pub. With the location, landlords (Laura and Craig), food, drink and accommodation being fantastic. Having read some of the other glowing reviews it's difficult to praise this pub in a new and insightful way. The best I can do is to reiterate that we stayed an extra two... More

Booked in for a couple of days as we were going to Sheffield for a football match, so the location was perfect for both the football and the walking we did on our second day. Our room was a lovely size (room 1) and had a double and a single bed. The en-suite bathroom was also a really good size.... More

At the last minute we decided to go walking in the peak district. After a good search on the internet at a few likely places to stay we decided that The Cheshire Cheese looked an ideal pub in an ideal spot to use as a base for a couple of days walking. I rang up on the Wednesday and managed... More

Spent a lovely weekend here with family. The landlord and landlady were more than accomodating. The rooms we had (2) were different, but both clean, tidy and warm. The pub food was excellent, with a lovely selection of freshly cooked adult and childrens meals. Good selection of real ales available. Very welcoming with real fires and NO music !! We... More

We met up with family for a meal here last weekend and we were very impressed. A good range of well kept real ales to choose from (local ales) and a mouthwatering selection of food as well.. Roaring open fires in each room kept the cold at bay and with a seriously hard frost outside it made this pub very... More
