A good quality hotel in an out-of-town location. We just spent the night there before moving on; the location is less than ideal if you want to visit Colchester as a tourist. The room was quiet and comfortable, with good bed, linen and bathroom. Heating/airconditioning was good. We did not try the food.

We stayed with family on our way to a family reunion. Hotel is everything you would expect from a holiday inn, we upgraded to a premium room which was really nice with a mini bar however the food and drinks were at london prices and for the location of the hotel not in keeping with what was available elsewhere.

Room - Upgraded to an executive room which was very nicely laid out. My only niggle would be the shower head in the bathroom which when you tried to twist to alter the head type just squirted water up towards the ceiling.
