My friend had convinced me that what I needed was a massage at Esalen. To avoid having to make a long trip through the windy Big Sur roads prior to our 11 AM appointment, we had to find a place to stay locally, the only caveat being that whatever we found had to have two beds as we are not... More

We have stayed at everything from Motel 6 to the Ritz and never had such horrible customer service. The problem with Ripplewood seems to be that the owner is more concerned with money than service and because Big Sur is so popular and there are a limited number of places to stay, they can have horrible customer service. We stayed... More

Our cabin 12B was basic, but cozy, quiet and clean. Fridge, coffee maker and heater made our stay comfortable. We recommend breakfast at close-by Big Sur Bakery.

My husband and I both felt right at home in this "resort" which is actually small cabins placed here and there, ours among the tall redwood trees. Ours was also right on a pleasant picturesque stream with private deck overlooking it, had a real fireplace with real wood to make a fire ( I made a dandy and kept some... More

Big Sur is one of my most favorite places and I always stay at the Ripplewood. Its nothing fancy, simple cabins under the redwoods. But its a great way to relax . I like the cabins with a fireplace and on the river. The breakfast is great and try Deejans a few miles down the road for eggs benedict. Yummie.

I stayed in Big Sur one time many, many, many years ago. I am happy to report that nothing has changed You get the feel of a big campground - homey, relaxed, and rustic. Ripplewood resort is just that. The funny little cabins are very basic, but clean and truly quiet. We stayed at another resort also in Big Sur,... More

Pros: Location, Location, Location. Cabin #1 is at the end of the line across the street from the main shop. It was quiet and you could hear the Big Sur River that runs just behind the cabin. Wood burning fireplace provided comfortable relaxing atmosphere. Cons: No luxury here. Just understand it is a cabin and you will be fine. If... More

WE didn't stay at the resort but we ate twice at the Cafe. Dining in Big Sur can be pricey but we found the Ripplewood Cafe to be both reasonable and delicious. The first time we had the chicken burrito and chinese sesame chicken salad and both were high quality. The server, Jose, was fast, cordial and made sure we... More

Having read previous reviews, we were a little concerned that the experience would be close to camping. Luckily, we were pleasantly surprised by cabin 12A. The heat was more than sufficient, the bed was pretty comfy and we even had a fridge to keep snacks for our dayhikes. Ripplewood is not a fancy hotel, but by no means would I... More

This is our second time here. Last time was just a single night in Cabin 4 (all we could get, we did not plan ahead). This time we booked well in advance and got Cabin 8 for 3 nights (12/24 - 12/26). On a scale of 1-10, with 10 being high I'd give it a 9. What we really liked:... More
