University House is in a charming and peaceful setting at the Australian National University. The accommodation is clean although the furniture and decor could do with an upgrade. The breakfasts are decent so you won't got hungry until lunch.

This is like checking into a 1950s style student dorm during the off-term - which would be fine in a quirky way if you were paying student dorm rates. Last weekend I stayed at University House whilst visiting Canberra with the Sweet Adelines singing group. We found it very clean and comfortable. It has a lovely old world feeling with a courtyard and beautiful fishpond, trees and flowers. There are two restaurants and bars. It has a beautiful entry and garden where you inmediately feel relaxed as you walk! But the can be noisy if there is any event in the courtyard. I stayed at University House for a conference at the same venue. Having an on-site bar and restaurant, we never left the place for two days.
