The only higher-end option available in Melbourne's cool Prahran nabe, The Cullen wins by default. Lots of character, cute art (though the recycled art themes would probably be considered cloying in Europe or the US), and youthful vibe. The rooms were cute, the beds comfortable, and the bathrooms adequate. However, the hotel clearly has gotten over-confident and doesn't pay attention... More

Our check in was delivered with a personal touch (and we received a free upgrade without asking) and we were delighted with the overall service of the staff with just one exception, the night porter. Whilst I applaud his seriousness in all matters of security, when our hotel key card refused to work on entry late one evening, he was... More

We hope to have you back here again soon and make sure your key is working. Glad to read that you took up the offer of the pillow menu, there is a few to choose from. We like to make sure our guests have a comfortable stay. The markets are great and almost a sin not to visit them being... More

From the first glimpse the Cullen is fun. It's warm, inviting rooms are a pleasure to inhabit with dekiciously comfortable bedding, well designed kitchenettes and small but perfectly formed bathrooms. We had a little balcony which would have been perfect for a glass of wine overlooking Melbourne city lights if we hadn't hit Melbourne on the wettest windiest day since... More

You got caught up in the weather of Melbourne I see - we had a month of rain in 24 hours! Glad to read that you braved it for a glass of Wine on the Balcony. We hope you come along again soon and next time the sun is shining. Cheers, Alicia and the Cullen Crew More

A fab art hotel, very up to the minute, but still retaining good old - fashioned service! We found staff helpful and attentive. Art work uniquely fun. Beds so comfortable. Only thing I would warn, as others have also said, is the bathroom wall is frosted glass, so don't book twin room if you are shy ! (although there are... More

Clean, comfortable and convennient. Loved Prahran market and market lane coffee across the road is a gem. Can't get any easier than the tram to town just down road. This whole hotel is stylish and funky and well worth a visit.

Great hotel in a fantastic location; really easy to get into the centre of Melbourne by tram and thus located in an area a little less corporate than many of the hotels. Brilliant food market opposite the hotel and some nice restaurants and bars nearby (cool not swanky). But, do look up the artist Cullen's work before you go -... More

We are Happy to read that you got to check out the Prahran Markets - they are amazing and the Cullen crew visit them regularly. Adams art work is very quirky and there are some great stories behind the meanings of them, next time you stay we would love to chat to you about them! Agree they are worth a... More

Daughter, granddaughter and myself enjoying a very nice stay in a very nice trendy hotel, good service, very nice surroundings, but the Terrace Restaurant, which is linked to this hotel (they do the roomservice for this hotel as well) is terrible, which is noticable as there are very few people to be seen there. We had one meal, which was... More

I decided to stay at the Cullen instead of chancing a drive home following a company Christmas party. From the first moment l arrived l was greeted with a smile and a quick check in. My room was excellent decorated with the art works of Adam Cullen. The decor of the room is beautiful, clean, spacious, a very comfortable king... More

Rather than stay in the centre of Melbourne for our mother/daughter weekend, we opted to stay in Prahran, close to the wonderful shops in High Street Armadale, Chapel Street and Toorak. And we couldn't have chosen a better hotel. It features the art of Adam Cullen and contemporary decor. We had a quiet room at the back of the hotel... More

I would say that this is one of the best hotels that I have stayed in! We arrived on the Friday evening to be told that the next evening they were having a roof top party and that guests were invited. After a great day shopping locally on Chapel Street we went back to the hotel and went upstairs for... More
